What if you had a snap ring down three inches into a one inch diameter bore?

Where are you going to find snap ring pliers with a long enough nose to get down in there?

I'm perplexed as to why there is nothing on the market available for such a situation.

The motion pro go 50mm deep. I think these Knipex will go to the bottom of a 3inch bore, but I don’t know of they will angle over to the snap ring. They are hugh, so I don’t know if the holes pins are small enough or close enough together. What are you working on? Something might be available from the manufacturer. You have a rare problem. I don't know about a 1" bore but I have a few snap ring pliers for getting in deep holes. I have the motion pros posted above. I also have a couple bigger knipex for internal and external snap rings. They are big so not sure they would work in a 1" bore or if the tips are too big to fit the holes in a 1" snap ring. I also bought these gearwrench probably 6-7 years ago, https://www.amazon.com/dp/B001M0O1M0?tag=atomicindus08-20. Can't remember ever using them but I remember I was doing a repair that had a snap ring deep in a small bore so bought them just in case. Think one of my knipex worked so didn't end up needing the gearwrench but still have them if I ever do.

In that situation I would likely use a handled tool like a long awl or an ice pick to get into one of the holes of the ring and use another handled tool as a lever to pry and collapse the ring inward on itself. Replace the ring with a new one If needed.

Snap ring pliers that use replaceable tips and a couple allen keys cut with tips ground to fit.

For the one deep-hole application I encountered (a snap ring in a GM AC compressor clutch), there was a special tool designed and sold to remove it. It was probably the same tool used for OEM assembly.
