My cut off date for my car interests is somewhere in the early 90s. Brings back a bit of motoring nostalgia.
A mate had a black 205xs when we were at college. It ended up smashed up like most 17 year old lad's first cars.

I hate seeing old cars just sat rotting away. Never for sale mostly due to owners who will restore them at some point. Though they rarely do. Then when they do want to sell them they're usually too far gone and they still want silly money for them.

I think people tended to keep their cars longer (and owned them outright instead of leasing) too. If you're only keeping it for 2 or 3 years i think you'd be looking at the ease of selling it so mundane colours seem to be prefered.

Its pretty much the same with every dealer.
My dad bought a 2 year old lovely hearing aid beige Austin Maestro like this back in the mid 80s. It'd been sat on the dealers forecourt for months as they couldn't sell it so he got it for a massive discount. Who thought it was a good idea to order it new i don't know.

A bit of the UK is still classed as being in severe drought (mostly the South East). We're back to being just normal/wet though.

Turned a cheap, old, badly repainted Tri-ang Mk1 brake coach into a departmental coach for the crew of the steam crane.



Not exactly the same.

It'll go nicely in a siding with this though.

Aerosol red oxide primer.
It still needs a little weathering to make it look a bit well used.

Even though we've had a bit of rain the reservoir level is still dropping.

For some reason my phone camera keeps trying to focus on random areas in the foreground so the background is sometimes blurred.

Bought a cheap Cleveland Transit MCW Metrobus off ebay. Advertised as 1:76 scale (OO gauge) but its more likely 1:72 scale so a little large.

Both are supposidly the same height (give or take an inch).

I should still be able make it look not too out of scale by parking it somewhere where theres not other 1:76 vehicles near.

I didn't realise the yellow Bristol VRT was modelled on the 13'8" height low roof version vs the standard 14'6" one.
The Cleveland transit bus is still slightly out of scale if it was 1:76 as it works out as 15'1", but in 1:72 its 14'6".

Middlesbrough (and Stockton) both had a small fleet of extra low roof buses built to fit under the 13'6" high Albert Bridge in Middlesbrough. This one has now been preserved by The Teesside 500 group.

I remember seeing an artic struggle with that arch when i was a kid. Most funny watching 40+ foot of truck trying to do a U turn in the high street.
