The rear sway bay isn't supposed to be that low. But Jeep CJ didn't have them so do I need it? It's a 2001 2dr 4wd Blazer....with the roll over sticker on visor. So next week will chance buy when the new links and bushings arrive Ill install it again.

Also confirmed for Beerhippie that 100 degree and 100 humidity makes getting saw dust from cutting out a stump miserable and itchy. Went to the garage to get the saw and batteries. Now charging them.

One less thing to mow around in the yard so progress.

I'm not completely 100%, but I had to take advantage of the weather. That and the other 4 kits are already packaged and ready to ship.

Easy weekend since my wife insists I keep it easy; birthday is this Labor Day.

Spent Friday dodging between the raindrops and wrestling this from the back garage to the basement shop

and due to the torrential downpour that I just missed, the drawers have not migrated over yet. Spent today out of the house, as this weekend is the wife's canning and pickling weekend, which I do everything to avoid. And spent tonight getting started on cleaning up the mess any project like this makes in my tiny shop. Which means more purge, and I am OK with that!

Today I cleared away everything from the right side wall, cleaned the area of dirt and dust and chased a nice size black spider out from the far corner by the overhead door (sorry guy but you have to vacate) then painted the full length of the bottom half of the wall with the light gray paint.

A full length 3-1/2" wide trim board, painted black, will be added to seperate the top white and bottom gray colors. Looks like a trip to HD tomorrow.

Next I repositioned the Dayton top box with the drawers facing out rather then sideways (looks better and its easier to access the tools) then I cut and added a shelf over it. Had to move a couple of signs to accomodate the repositioning of the tool box. Finally placed a couple of my old trophies atop the shelf. Another small shop section done.

Filled a 20 yard dumpster with my FIL stuff. Unfortunately other family members took ALL the tools and yard tools before we got there. vultures. MIL will never need or use the tools but when any of us are here to do anything we will have to bring tools. I dint think it is right but it wasn't my choice or under my control.
I did pick up a few machinest tools that most of them have no idea what they are. I will probably sell them and give the $$ back to my MIL. Maybe buy a tool set to leave here at her house.

Neighbors came over. We had a couple wobbly pops and shot the breeze for a bit. I finished up the gas tank sealer. That whole process went well. The tank is now completely sealed. On Friday I did a thing and went out and picked up another 64 Fairlane. This makes 5. Here is the before shot.

That was before I pressure washed it. It has a lot of slime growing on it in this picture. It really looks a lot worse than it is.

In this shot are all 5 of my 64s in one picture. All the way in the back of the garage is my K code on the lift with the trunk open. Behind that is my Skylight blue Sports Coupe. To the left of the Sports Coupe is the wagon on the rotisserie. Outside the garage is the new yellow Hardtop. And then to the left of that under the black tarp is my second wagon.
The explosion of parts has already begun on the new hardtop.


Pretty soon the plasma torch comes out and it disappears completely. If I didn't have the K code already disabled on the lift, this one would already be reduced to a pile of parts. Every single usable piece will be removed and the good sheet metal will be cut off and cleaned for storage or reinstallation. I have to wait for the K code to be drivable to finish the task. Once the car hits the lift the suspension comes out and out comes the plasma. What is left will leave as an unrecognizable bunch of scrap on a trailer.

I know the feeling. I just went through the same thing when my mother passed last month. My sister let people go through the house and take what they wanted before I could even get there. One of the disadvantages to being over 700 miles away I guess.

Hauled the ladder I built for the Toyota out of storage. Fits the F250 perfectly. LOL. Always thinking ahead. NOT. Also started cleaning up the heads for the Mustang. One got a little rusty. I'm sure the Grandson will buy some aluminum heads later on so not concerned.

I have a set of rebuilt E7TE heads that have been shaved 0.020" if you're interested. I need to get them out of the way.

Put most of the **** that was supposed to be in the Topper of the Diesel‘s box back out there. Bike is going back into the shed and rocker lawn chair is undecided.

intend to put the charger away and battery back into the bronco. Need to get back on adjusting linkages first and foremost.

When shutdown wraps up, the 351W Lightening block will go to Trico Machining for the cam bearings and frost plugs removed then hot tanked and sonic checked. Been talking to people……Plans are Trick Flow 11R Renegade heads, and a Milodon Oil Pan. I do know a 393 rotating assembly but compression ratio of the pistons is undecided. Pro charged or Nitrous…..

Luckily my brother was in charge when my parents passed. He wouldn't let anyone take anything since he was the trustee. He said, "My job is to protect the assets."
He would let family take photos of anything that they wanted and send them to him. He would make the decision later when we were done processing our loss. It's amazing how many backed off after he said that.

Repaired the HVAC in the wife's 454SS. A whle back the air flow stopped switching where it came out when selecting floor/vent/defrost. It would mostly come out the floor vents no matter where you selected. I found one of the actuator arms had come off one of the blend doors. Once I removed a few dash pieces so I could get my hand in and also see what I was doing it was a 5 second repair... Slid the arm back onto the door, it is keyed, then cycled the vent positions and all is well again.

I also replace several missing screws in the dash with spares from the collection of hardware.

Replaced both bumpers today with old but less crusty versions. Plan is to get this car to the point if someone rubs up against it they won't need a tetanus shot first. The bumpers are a big improvement. My ultrasonic cleaner arrived today. To be honest it is still sitting in the sealed box. I haven't pulled it out and even looked at it yet. It is my plan to use that on the carb. On Friday I went and picked up a donor for the K code. Once the K code is drivable I will get it off the lift and load the new donor up. After that it goes on a trailer. It really is a shame to have this car turned into a pile of scrap parts especially when it has a title and good VIN number. Here are the better bumpers and the gas tank mounted back in the car. They will look better after I hit them with chrome polish. I already rubbed a small area with my finger and the rusty color came off without even using chrome polish.

When my my grandmother died, a few years after grandpa, my aunts were back at the house throwing things in the dumpster before we got back from the funeral. My dad rescued some new-in-the-box collectible pottery and dishes and some $5 gold coins that were in boxes that they threw out. Who knows what things were buried before we got there. Thankfully, grandpa had given me a lot of his tools and tool chest when he was still around, but there were still things that I remember that I wish I knew where they ended up.

Have you seen these seal pullers? They're awesome!

Lisle, have the very same one. Less chance of damaging the seal and metal areas.
Beats picks for sure.

Another trick I like to employ is get a wood screw, get it into the seal, grab it with pliers and pull the seal out.

Put the louver boards back on the deck (stained in garage), put away sawhorses and brushes.

Changed the front pads and rotors on the truck. Left front wheel was a PITA -- that thing would not come off. A big sledgehammer and block of wood did the trick.

Friday I ventured out to garage, did some work on my '06 Yamaha quad. Took some of the plastics off to remove the tank.

Once tank was out of the way I could get to the carb, removed the top cover that has diaphragm, spring, and needle. Shortened the spring by two loops, last year I did some research and this was a mod to do for a crisper throttle response.
Happy to report it does work as advertised. Effective and a free mod.

Put things back together and rode it some, it has not ran since last year October. Need to buy a new battery for it, everything else is good to go for an upcoming camping trip. Did 303 treatment on all plastics, it all came to life.

Saturday I grabbed some tools/emergency supplies for a ~500 mile roundtrip to Southern Utah, visited my pops resting place.

Earlier today I was in there grabbing tools to swap a ceiling fan. One in the living room was on its way out, luckily I had another one stashed from a few years back.
Now I have to get two more matching ones at Costco and redo other ceiling fans in the house.

Painted my baseboards and got some wire raceway up. Hopefully I can install the baseboards tomorrow.

repaired the not working power door lock on the rear passenger door in the wife's wagon. someone(me) forgot to plug the harness back in when he replaced the window rollers a while back...

also did a quick plastic weld on a broken piece of the taillight housing.

between the rain and my wife's canning/pickling, I wasn't able to really do what I wanted, which was load up more stuff for the Restore and get the drawers for my new shop storage installed. We shall see what today brings.
