What is the yellow one?I have a 26 x 56 attached shop/garage. In the past ten years besides many small projects, I built these two cars and painted them in it.

I don't do a lot of woodworking, but occasionally. Mostly metalwork, and vehicle stuff. Messy jobs are done on the patio behind the 20x20 garage to minimize dust.

Mostly, machining, some metal fabrication and general stuff. A bit of basic woodwork.
All machinery is spread over former 2.5 and 4-car garages (boat is kept there, but no space for cars except for emergencies).

Woodwork, Metal work, vehicle/tractor/lawn equipment repairs, Fallout shelter
Not nearly big enough to be set up well for everything, but i'm making it work.
Much better than working in a gravel driveway in wintertime.
Previously was working out of a 10'x12' storage shed, which made everything done outside in the yard. .
Setup and takedown times made working on anything an ordeal, Drag out the tools, do the work, and put everything back
Wish shop was bigger, but it is extremely nice to be able to work on things in a climate controlled shop.
Heat, AC, Internet/TV and beer fridge round out the amenities.

My current building was sized to the maximum allowed on the lot we are on, and is 24x40 overall. One car garage space, a woodworking space, and a metal shop with lathes and mills. A stairway to the upstairs takes 3 feet between the two shop spaces. Upstairs is a room for my wife's looms etc., and a room for my extra books and back issues of magazines.

My farm shop is a bit of an everything space. It currently is housing my combine while it’s getting more in parts stuck into it than it’s worth.
Thanks to @bugnut I now have a lathe and Bridgeport so I should be able to build about anything I can imagine.
We’ve got a hangout room upstairs and try to do a family movie night for sure once a week.
It hasn’t been this empty for years lol.
Definitely more metal projects than wood happen in here.
The occasional nerd thing happens in the office. This was prepping for a dozen workstations to get sysprep images.
Many things a year get some love.
We also throw the occasional shin-dig complete with a buffet.
Thanks to @bugnut I now have a lathe and Bridgeport so I should be able to build about anything I can imagine.

Your shop is my dream shop.
We also live in NorCal but have five more years in San Jose until kids are out of school. Then it's up to the mountains.
I want a BIG *** shop with some lot space outdoors for all the motorcycles, trucks, and a camper.
I remember seeing pics of your place (above) long ago and thinking the view is phenomenal. Plus, my son and I like to fish ;-0

Aside from my shop being stick built and attached, your description couldn't have described my life any better.

About 70% automotive workspace, parts and parking; 10% metal working; 10% for house repairs and projects; 5% for the half bath and washing sink; and final 5% for lawn and yard equipment. I try to do all woodcutting outside, then any assembly inside. Not a high precision woodworker, just building shelves or fixing wood pieces.
Yeah, I always had big plans for a retirement shop with everything needed to do whatever I decided I wanted to do. Machine shop/welding/fabrication/auto/truck/tractor/woodworking/blacksmithing...and likely a few endeavors that I haven't thought of yet. Started looking at where I was at, and where I wanted to be. Came to the realization that if I waited to get everything i wanted, I was going to be too old to use it. Didn't want to commit to six figures for the building, and at least that much to equip it.
In 2016, Started looking at pole barns, and figured I could make it work. Originally wanted a 30x40, but siting issues made it difficult. Wound up with a 24x32, that seemed to fit nicely on the lot. Way smaller than the original idea, but big enough to get me out of the 10x12 shed that I was using to store my tools. Was able to get it built, building, concrete/site work, permits, and materials for heat/AC, lights/wiring, insulation, under 30k with the wiring. Did the heat/air, wiring, insulation, myself. Still a work in progress, but far enough along to allow me to use it. Still have big dreams, but your reach should always exceed your grasp. Still have a few years before retirement but I will get there.

The more of these shops I look at the more I think movable equipment is probably worth almost as much as extra square footage.
A dedicated wood shop would be nice, but I'd rather have an "everything" space where the welding table, saw, workbench etc can move around depending on the project.
Seems like no matter how large the building is, eventually the project you're working on wants the exact patch of floor where something permanent is sitting.

The garage shop is setup as a cabinet shop, the basement shop setup as a machine shop. Both have way too much **** in them to effectively be used as anything else most of the time.

My shop is a detached 24‘x36’ stick framed with 12’ ceiling. Its main use 24/7 is storage of my Chevelle, my motorcycles and the wife’s Cadillac V. I have a 4 post lift that I use for maintenance on all of our vehicles and lawn mower. Also currently finishing a restoration of my Chevelle. I don’t do machining or welding, but I have some woodworking tools, including a built-in miter saw station. However, I hate cutting wood in there because the sawdust goes everywhere!

It’s mostly a 23x26 to play with my trucks. Constant evolution of tools. I do, do sone work work out there for the yard but metal fabrication and auto shop is it’s prime focus.
eventually a 90-93 Mustang LX will be in there for quick lil street car that can run 10s and drive home.

Calling my 2 car attached garage a shop is a bit of a stretch.
I'm no longer able to do the things I did as a young man.
But it is laid out in a way where everything is accessible and connected and working.
It's a two car garage with parking for one and the other half as a hobby situation.
It's neat and organized.
A 10" South Bend, a Clausing 8520 Mill are the stars of the show,
with the usual suspects as the supporting cast.
Everything is plugged in and works.
I'm just not a young man anymore...

Yeah, blue goldwings are rare. When I was looking for my F6B, I found a low mileage one locally, but in red. I bought it and had it vinyl wrapped professionally in blue. The wrap guy did a great job and everyone is surprised when I tell them.

Mine is everything. Side bay for woodworking but it's not closed off from the rest of the shop (large doorway). TIG welding is done indoors and all other welding is typically done out in the driveway, or maybe just inside the main door if it's raining and something needs to get done.
