Sometimes it’s the little things that count!

My floors are not level and I’ve been meaning to address that for some time. Plus I’m 6’2” and always felt the pedestal was a little on the short side for my preference. So, I grabbed some spare 2” thick maple and built a nice little base. Worked great and gave me an additional 3-1/2” of needed height.

I have three of these lathes,one has the complete accessories including the xy axis tool holder and steady rest.All three have the original cast iron legs.

JUST got this out of my vehicle:



Although this is my third complete Delta foot feed, this is the first one that has had the added bonus of the MSA pulley.

This drill press is absolutely loaded with goodies, the foot feed, the MSA pulley, the retirement light, the on-off pull switch, and just for good measure, a 1940s Mastercraft XY table with no broken knobs.

Yes, I paid $100 for this absolute gem. It's not often that I'm actually happy about handing money over, this was one of those situations.

Definitely more to follow when I start cleaning it.

Got the foot feed assembly off relatively easy. I laid the machine forward on a couple wooden dollies and the base came off in less than 5 minutes with some dead blow hammer hits. Same with the column mount foot feed assembly. I count myself lucky here as I've had to resort to blocks of wood and a sledgehammer to get a drill press base off.





For 78 years, the majority of the paint is still on there and in fairly decent condition. I will not remove the paint on this one.

I've seen MSA pulleys with a million set screw scars but this one, unusually for its age, has just a few.



Belts are in great condition also.



A lot going on there, but Delta pulled it off and made it all work well.

After looking at this thread and talking with Hoorn. I finally found one and it was complete and for a decent price.

After two months of trying to set up a time with the seller to come pick it up. The night before I came to pick it up leaving my house at 0500. He changed the ad to “as is”.

So when I got it home the motor would not run. At first I thought maybe it was wired for 230 volts so I opened the switch box and that was when I saw the reason. The insulation on all the wires was falling off.

I made some repairs but that didn’t seem to work and once I got the motor mounted back on the stand and put the belt on the motor would not run again.

I opened it back up and replaced all the wires coming off the windings. Put it all back together again which what seemed like the 20th time. I thought I had it but after 1.5 seconds it tripped the GFI.

Just when I was about to give up, posted the question about the problem with the motor. Someone suggested that the outlet might be the issue. They said some old motors just don’t like GFI outlets. I tried it in a standard outlet and it ran just fine. I let it run for 10 minutes and not over heating.

I was finally able to test the whole machine running. I can’t wait to get this machine restored and just able to use it.

It’s not perfect but I will fix what I can. I just can’t seem to find a crank for belt adjustment.

I checked. There are a few but it’s the whole mechanism. $150 for a handle is a bit steep, just to turn around and have to resell the rest of it minus the handle. A generous person on another group is sending me one for the cost of shipping. I was very grateful for that.

Glad you got one, my search email from today had several of just the handles. Also that handle isn't unique to just this sander, it was used on many other tools.

I must have been putting in the wrong thing for searches. The gentleman who is sending the handle has said NCS 59 and I pulled mine off and confirmed it was that. Maybe I should have just typed that in. What did you put as a search?

delta 6 x 48 sander is the saved search email, but they seem to relate to delta ball crank handle.

Yes, that’s what I was getting since I didn’t know what it was called. I just knew it adjusted the tension of the belt.

It has a broken faucet knob as well for the tracking. Those seem more common and it looks like Vintage Delta Supply has them on their site. I was just going to buy from them since I needed some other items for both my 14” bandsaws. One is a wood/metal and the other is just wood. Also I need a return spring for my 32” radial drill press too. Might as well buy once cry once.

Has anyone had good luck with them?
