I've been busy with media-blasting (mostly glass-bead blasting) parts for my project cars, in order to get them zinc-replated and / or repainted. I've been really happy with the results of glass-bead-blasting for lager parts.
But I had a major bottleneck:
My trusty old swiss-made Geco Compressor was simply too small. After about 1 minute of blasting I either could only blast at very low pressure (with nearly no visible results) or wait for 5 minutes for the compressor to go over 8 Bar again.
So i usually tried to do this job in parallel to something else. very time consuming and frustrating. Blasting a little part could take up to 3 days....
So after figuring out various solutions, I found a really great deal, and placed an order.
I Present you: "The Beast" (Plus tons of chemicals for my cars. Cleaning solvents, parts cleaner fluid, Evapo-rust and sand-soap, etc.).
the Metabo Mega 650-270D.

4kW 3-phase compressor
Delivers 450l / min or arounf 390l / min at 8 bar, which is perfectly fine for blasting.
Also it's way more silent, and doesn't need to run constantly.
I've been using mostly Metabo air tools anyway and i'm a big fan of their quality.
It doesn't look that big in the photos, but it's massive, and the old one definitely looks small compared to the new one.
While waiting for the new compressor to arrive, I also ordered a new LED Lighting for the blasting cabinet. The old FL tube didn't work properly anymore and I was basically blasting blindly in the dark. Not very effective...
The new light is way brighter, don't flicker and are a joy to work with.
Everything back together and ready to rock. I will probably move the compressor in a different area, as it's a bit tight around the lift now, but I have other priorities to work on, so that has to wait.
The main issue i have now is the polycarbonate window, which seems to get "blind" (flat) every few hours. I have a protective foil on it, but still that one gets flat quite qucikly. So i'm wondering if actual glass or anything else works better, so i don't have to replace the window foil every few hours?
Either way. The results are much better and with the recently installed dust suction, the new compressor and lighting, the results are MUCH, MUCH quicker and better!!
Oh, and while doing all the work, I found this little fella trapped behind my workshop window, so I got him out there and released him to our hedge.

You should be able to get a glass window and then put something like a metal window screen in front of it to protect it from "direct" hits. Polycarbonate, while very tough is also very soft and will quickly get damaged as you're experiencing. Actual glass will last a LONG time.
