Why do some of the lots in my subdivision have 2 transformers?

When I was fixing our dog fence perimeter wire today it struck me that we have 2 transformers feeding our house while other houses have just 1.

Any idea why?

My shop in the same subdivision. I have one, across the street neighbor has 2.

One of them is a high voltage junction box where it is split off to the nearby houses.

Left one in the first pic is the transformer, right one is a primary junction.

In the second picture, is the one in the foreground a transformer? It's roughly the same size and shape as the one in the first picture that you guys are calling the high voltage junction box.

The one with tools on top is a junction cabinet.

Like others have said the first one is a junction box. The second one is a single phase transformer.

The transformer has connections for two primary cables. One coming in one going out. Apparently they needed more than that so you have a junction box.

You can see the primary connections in the lower part of this photo. This one has one primary cable coming in. The second connection is just capped.
