Anybody know where I can buy spare nozzles for small tubes of silicone? I use Permatex Ultra Grey a lot and hate fighting a clogged nozzle. A google search turned up some in the UK but nothing here in the US.

We use the small tubes of RTV by the cases, rarely do we even use the nozzles. If I knew were you were I would give you a dozen.

I always cut the tip so I have a hole small enough for a screw to get a good seat in it.

While not always 100% effective, it does do a pretty good job of keeping the nozzle from drying out and clogging most of the time.

When I get through using my RTV, I screw a wirenut over the end of it. When I go to use it again, it may be still soft, but if it has set up. i take a small screwdriver, poke it down the hole, then pull the set up plug out. good to go then.

Ive also kind of gave up using the nozzles....but here is a tip if you like to use them....when finished with the RTV, put the regular cap back on and push something like a deck screw into the back (threaded side) of the nozzle....let the silicone dry.....pull the screw, usually 100% of the silicone comes out in a cone shape leaving the nozzle completely clean...

edit: lol posted a little slow, but you get the point (pun intended)

Little tip....... Save your old spark plug wires and cut the boot off of them. These fit nice and tight around the nozzle and usually will keep it from drying out.

When I finish using mine I remove the nozzle from the tube and replace the screw cap, then push a long screw into the nozzle from the wide end (can ge messy). Next time I want to use it I pull on the screw head to remove the now-set goop from the nozzle, and out comes the cone of sealant too. I don't bother cleaning the screw/sealant cone after that, just push it back in each time.

If it is just short term I've found it easier to squeeze out and leave on a "curl" of the product, set it aside and let it dry. Just pull the dried curl and it will pull out of the nozzle down to fresh product when you want to use it again.

Long term I have found a cap wrapped with electrical tape works the best to keep things fresh.

I use vacuum caps to cover the open ends of sealants and caulk. I've never had one dry out either.

Lots of good suggestions here, I've used a few of those myself and they seem to work on normal RTV. The Ultra Grey is great stuff but I swear it will cure when there's only a couple air molecules around. Even capping it with the original cap you end up with a cured plug to pull out. Part of my problem is that I'm running a very fine bead so when the nozzle gets mangled I get a bigger bead that I'd like. I may switch to epoxy.... McMaster has some products that have mixer nozzles that can be replaced. Thanks for all the input.

I know this an old post, I was looking for spare nozzles as the original post was. When I have compressed air I just unscrew the nozzle after using and blow air in the small hole in the end. Oh yea, point it into a trash can.

I pull the nozzle off, put the original cap on the container. Let the RTV dry, then twist a drywall screw in from the wide end. Pulls the rtv out clean every time. Ready to use next time...like new.

I throw those nozzles in the trash as soon as I open the package. They seem useless to me.
