I think what Boyd did worked just fine. I'd be happy as hell to have mine look as good.

Problem is Lowe's here in California doesn't appear to carry the same paint as he used. They carry Valspar, just not the catalyzed type and not "Berlin" color. Though I assume a color reasonably close would look as good...at least to me.

Not limited to California. Lowes (Canada) could not help, so I visited Valspar's office locally and they were of limited help also. But, they did call Valspar U.S. and they at least are sending me a paint chip to work from.

Anyone have any suggestions where that colour could be found in Canada or U.S stores??

For the record, it is #314-3 "Berlin" a totally suitable tool box colour.

It looked rather off to me also, but is only an internet interpretation. I am still awaiting an actual paint chip, in the mean time I had some time to do a bit of colour mixing on my own.

In the original photo I couldn't see that it was T&G because I was looking at it on my iPhone. I like the wood and it is kinda neat being in "patina" but with your newly refinished cabinets and especially with the pristine benchtop did you consider refinishing the wood natural, using urethane, etc? Still, I DO like it as it is.

I favor the patina look myself, it contrasts nicely with the gloss and gives it some texture. The signs ar great.

Check out Devoe High Performance Coatings in their 'Colours for Industry'. In Canada it is carried by Dulux.

Their "light green" looks close no?

I'm a big fan of Boyd's work here, I used this thread as inspiration to build this last year.

I had two old matching Craftsman rolling bases, then added a new Harbor Freight 13 drawer box. Laid down some 2x4s for a base and frame, then added a basic countertop from the rack at Lowe's to finish it off. Paint is just Rustoleum spray cans, "Painter's Touch 2x" in gloss Sage Green, 2 coats over a white primer base. I love the color, and it's easy to touch up when it gets scratched.

The countertop is 2 feet deep, which leaves a nice area between the wall and rear of the boxes to store lumber stock.
