Mike: while it's not a perfect answer to my storage needs that pallet rack does hold a few thinks and it does take up a dead space that would normally be empty.

good luck on your build and if you are going to hang the shelving from your ceiling try to spread out the load a bit cause I need to change mine by adding more supports for the long stuff that is bending the 8 foot unistrut.

Sq: best of luck finding more info on Simmonds and Delco. i've seen a few Delco hanging cabinets and Simmonds seems to be back there in my memory someplace, but I can't recall at the moment.

LUG: I didn't know the bins were numbered. I don't know what size the 0 and 00 are, but I think I have at least 4 different sizes and i put the big ones on the floor that are about 24 wide, the next size ones I have the shelving for so they work nicely in a 5 foot wide 2 foot deep and 5 foot tall area and smaller ones are stacked. good luck and i'm sure you'll find a bunch of them when you probably aren't expecting to find them like I did.

Drives: The Triflow is working out good. I guess it’s been about a month now and the drawers are still moving pretty good.

I picked up a couple old dental cabinets with plans to mount them up under a workbench I’m building. They are built really well with made in USA ball bearings. There was a bit of rust, I wire brushed it and sprayed it with some Rust Oleum rust converter. That stuff seems to work pretty good to create a paintable surface. Gave them a coat of gray Rust Oleum. They turned out pretty nice.

I think I see a Dewalt planer in that cabinet. do you use it often? I started a thread on Shapers and i'm going to start another one on Planers if you'd like to comment over there. or comment here when you post up more pics of your cabinets.

ALL: as I'm moving my nesting bins from storage to my parent's basement where i'll have a woodshop until i build one I noticed on the side of them that they indeed are Stackbin #5's. I'll try to find the names stamped on my other bins to report them too. the smallish blue ones i have that are built like a tank are Lyon so now I'm wondering how many companies made these. anybody have another brand?

Getting there. I also picked up these white cabinets at an auction I probably won't end up using. Have a couple more lab cabinets I found too. I can't say no!

I'm inheriting this one from my grandfather (RIP), my Dad is moving out of the house over this basement.

Haven't seen an easy-to-spot name plate. It's loaded with miscellaneous hardware that's probably worthless.

I would say it’s priceless being able to have something that belonged to your grandfather. I don’t know anything about that specific small parts cabinet but it looks like it’s in good condition. Any of these small parts cabinets still have resale value.

Thanks Dave! I agree about the cabinet, it's the bits of random hardware inside that are probably worthless.

Also interesting, I found a box of K-Mart brand crayons in pristine, unused condition. Probably not woth much, either.

even though you might not see any value in some of the items in the 18 drawers you might take a picture and post them and maybe we can let you know for sure cause that's how a lot of us find stuff we need that usually costs a lot in the store if it isn't unobtainium.

Icabod: not sure that will keep your beer cold, but a great idea for repurpose and storage.

What's the story behind the "Amish Auto Salvage"? Last name? Over here (I grew up in Pennsyltucky...) the traditional Amish don't drive cars, so it's sort of funny in an interesting way to see that combination of words.

Just add a conduit or two to make it more believable. I was on the same track, especially with the interlock to open when energized.

About 15 years ago, when copper scrap prices were very high, I was at the site of a closed machine shop to buy an item. I mentioned that it looked like there was a lot of heavy conduit on the walls. The seller went into a long tirade about how the thieves had stolen all the copper wiring, including the 480 volt main feeds. The copper in the main feeds were about 2" in diameter, and the thieves had cut them while they were still energized! There were no dead bodies left around, or charred spots near the cut wires.

So thieves don't avoid areas with DANGER HIGH VOLTAGE signs!

I've been looking for a reasonably priced roto-bin for a while, but those things go for serious money. I guess I'll have to be satisfied in the short term with this little 2 tier jobbie that I scored off of facebook marketplace.

I just sold a 3 tier galvanized one cause I didn't have a bench with enough room to have it on the corner and it's levels were stationary. if they rotated around i might have kept it, but I didn't have access to two sides on the one bench i might have had room for it.

I looked for a long time for rotabins and i've been lucky enough to grab a few the last few years so keep looking cause I think most of them were actually made in factories close to where you live.

the galvanized one I bought I didn't know DIDN'T rotate until I actually saw the piece and i'd already asked the person to hold it for me and committed to buying it not thinking that it wouldn't.

I had a small one like yours with I think 4 or 4 smallish rotating shelves that I'd still like to have, but one of my friends has it on his bench and he won't trade or sell it back to me. he probably also knows that it's not likely i'll have a clean area on my bench to put it either.

nice find and best of luck finding one that is 3 or 5 foot wide cause they hold a lot of STUFF.

Unfortunately, not. We're quarantining ourselves away from Dad (who just turned 70 at the beginning of the month), as my wife's employer (local hospital) announced its first confirmed case of corona.

I just turned 51 this week, not liking the numbers coming out of Italy.

I figure this is the best topic to ask in. I have about 12 of them from the habitat store from forever ago and finally started to mess with them. Some of the regular drawers are missing the plastic glides that rest/glide in the steel rails of the cabinet and are used as a drawer stop at the front. I don’t believe they are Hon or Uline. They started out in the Grizzly call center.

They are going to be built into a modular garage wall cabinet storage bench with a standing countertop and addition drawers fabricated above from wood.

Tuesday I answered an ad in Offerup for a large fireproof cabinet. Fortunately, I figured out what I was getting into, and brought a loading ramp, appliance dolly, a come-along, and plenty of rigging. It is 43" wide, 18-1/2" deep, and 65" tall, and quite heavy. I had to drag it across a gravel lot because the seller had an inoperable vehicle blocking access, then winch it up into the pickup on the ramp with the dolly laying on its back. The listing said "free" but when I called he said there had been several calls, and "the first $40.00 takes it."

Someone had pried it open in the past. I had to do some straightening to repair that, and secured some loose spot welds with sheet metal screws.

There is an extra shelf and brackets laying in the bottom, too. Overall, not too bad!

I've been searching for one of these tool cabinets for a few years. While this one doesn't look like it, it's got some military provenance. There's still a coat of olive drab inside the drawers. This one is going to get cleaned up and repainted if necessary.

Was located only an hour away and well worth the drive. These cabinets are bulletproof.

i used to see them more often so i could be picky and I actually let a couple go and now I haven't seen even an expensive one lately.

Provi: i've had a couple of those and probably should have kept one, but space is always an issue here. it's good to have at least one of those fireproof cabinets in your shop and is that the first one or did you already have one or two and just needed another?

Shalmo: great cabinets. I actually just made a tough decision and sold my Surehit cabinet that also had Borg Warner on mine. it had the drawers that yours is missing on the one side but my latch needed some repair. I actually already tried to buy it back and no luck cause it's hanging and full of the new owner's stuff now and he's a very happy camper.

Picked up another cabinet. Welded casters, nice stand up cabinet with roomy storage and cubby’s. Guessing it was perhaps a shop teachers?

I guess I wasn't satisfied with just one of these cabinets, so I kept looking. Found another one about 1.5 hrs away from me. Went to pick it up yesterday. It has a fresh coat of Rustoleum blue metallic on top. I'm hoping that it'll come off pretty easily with some acetone.

The brass U.S. Gov. property tag is pretty cool.

I think I should stop looking for these now. While they hold a TON, they do take up some space.

I've seen them go for those prices before. Those boxes are usually in better shape with original paint. But I refuse to pay that much. I'm just cheap.
The brass tag is cool. Bendix apparently built parts for nuclear warheads for the U.S. Gov. under contract for the Atomic Energy Commission. A neat bit of history.

Here's some of my various cabinets. The black one with the Huot box is my main tool box. I like that type of set up for my needs. I have a safe that I use for some grinders. Couple of the military cabinets I have in the machine shop. All these were cheap cause I'm pretty cheap when it comes to tools. I'm a user not so much a collector so the cosmetics isn't a big concern
