A different way to anchor a 2 post lift

I am purchasing a used Forward 12000lb 2 post lift. The current owner has it mounted on 4" of concrete. It would scare the hell out of me to mount the lift in my barn on just 4" 4000psi concrete. The current owner said he used to install lifts. He said I could get a 1/2"-3/4" steel plate to put...

I just have to finish the office, bathroom, and move some left over wood. The office is getting drywall this weekend. Can't wait to start on...

Insulating a ceiling and rafter vents

I am trying to get my pole barn all insulated. I have insulation below the metal roof to keep from sweating. I just got the walls spray foamed. Do I need to install rafter vents on the sides since I going to have cellulose blown in? Will I need a vapor barrier below the cellulose?

I'm going to run the lines inside the walls and ceiling. I am looking at both black pipe and Rapid Air. I'm trying to decide which would be easier to run...

Will a 4" corrugated pipe be large enough to flow all that water away from the barn? hopefully someone has run accross this...

Where to buy H.O. T8 light fixtures online?

I am building a house right now. The garage is 28x47 with 14ft. walls. I saw several fixtures at 1000bulbs.com but they are only 4 or 6 bulb 4ft long. I would rather have 4 bulb tandem 8 ft. long. Has anyone bought any of these online that are high output? How many would I need? What's the best...

Foam vertical around perimeter of Barn

My pole barn is starting to go up this week. I am looking to put 2" of XPS foam under the slab. People at work have told me to put foam 3' down around the perimeter of the floor. So here's my questions. Shouldn't I put this foam on the outside of the 6x6 posts to stop the cold? How thick of a...

Poured my Garage and Basement Concrete question

They just poured the concrete for my basement and garage. The basement floor started showing hairline cracks everywhere within a hour after they were done. The wife was not happy. They said the mix was a little hot. Will this affect the strength of the concrete? I'm going to go check the garage...

Solid or Laminated posts for a Pole Barn

I am just about to purchase a Pole Barn package. You can get laminated or solid 6x6 posts. The walls will be 16'. The laminated posts is quite a bit cheaper. Am I giving up strength by going with the laminated poles? Will the solid posts last longer? Any and all help is appreciated. :headscrat

    Pole Barn Insulation

I am new to this website and have a couple of questions about insulation. We are about to build a 60x80 Barn in a couple months. I really want to insulate with spray foam. Can you spray insulation against a vapor barrier next to the exterior metal? Does the barn have to have vents or can you...
