recommendation for 3/8 and 1/4 metric flex sockets

I never saw the need for this type socket and thought a universal joint and a regular socket was just as good. Ran into a situation replacing a Honda EGR valve the other day and a 12mm flex socket would have made the job a bit easier. Now I'm looking for a set of metrics in 3/8 and/or 1/4...

SK 3770 bent handle ratchet question

Does this ratchet have an spring/index ball to keep the head from flopping or is it strictly a friction fit? I can't tell from any of the photos I've seen of it.

Help me with my Kilness ratchet obsession (1/4" drive)

Have a few questions regarding Kilness patent (2981389) RH ratchets in 1/4" drive. 1. Is the ratcheting mechanism the same size as the 3/8" ratchets and only the anvil is smaller, or is it a completely different and smaller mechanism ? I ask because the 1/2" drive ratchets take the same size...

A question for my fellow Kilness patent RH ratchet enthusiasts

Gentlemen: I have taken apart probably 30 Kilness patent ratchets from various manufacturers including New Britain, Blackhawk, Sparta, Champion, Husky and Penncraft. In every case the pawl (whether 45-tooth or 60-tooth) has been held outward against the ratchet head by a simple spring. Has...

    RAM ratchet made by SK?

Fished this one out of the 'bay a week or so ago; got it for < $10 delivered. It looks like an SK-made ratchet. It's pictured here with one of my SK 45170 ratchets for comparison. The ratcheting mechanisms definitely interchange. The diameter of the handles are markedly different and the...

Interesting observation regarding the strength of Kilness patent ratchets

Since my first introduction to the Kilness patent ratchets via a NB-55 flex head I fixed for my father (thanks GJ) a few weeks ago, I've become rather interested in these ratchets and have collected several samples from eBay. Yesterday I received my first 1/2" drive unit, a Husky CS-43. When...

SK Tools screwdrivers: Facom era vs 2016

I read on GJ that the current handles of S-K Tools' US-made SureGrip (hard handle) screwdrivers are much larger than those of the FACOM era when they were made in France. Someone even likened the new handles to those found on pry bars. But I couldn't find where anyone had posted any photos in...

Need help repairing New Britain NB-55 flex head 3/8 ratchet

My father is sentimental about a New Britain 3/8" flex head ratchet (model NB-55) that he has had for 40+ years. The detent ball and spring have fallen out of the anvil so that it won't retain sockets anymore. At 76 yo he will probably never use it again But I know it would mean a lot to him...

Length of Wrights vs Snap-On combos with photos

Not sure if I've ever seen a comparison photo of the WrightGrip wrenches vs the Snap-On flank drive plus (SOEXM). Hopefully the group finds this helpful. For me, the Wrights have a better feel to them and are more comfortable, so unless I need the extra length of the Snappy, I prefer my Wrights.

Kastar/Lang/Craftsman thread restorer kit on sale

I posted this in another thread but thought everyone might not see it there. Great deal on a great kit. I picked up this Kastar/Lang/Craftsman thread restorer kit a few weeks ago; $55 and free shipping, plus save 5% when using your Sears card. It's the same one that Snap-On sells for $130+...

    Weird Craftsman 1/2F-3/8M adapter

I've had this adapter in my spare sockets for years. Don't remember where I got it--probably with a bunch of sockets at a pawn shop. I've never seen anything like it. As an adapter it's useless. The detent ball goes way too far into the socket to be of any use and it's rotated 45deg from...
