most at home 4 post lifts can be either 110 or 220, depending on how you wire it or spec it. most bigger 2 post lifts are 220.

The best way is to use a watering can with a sprinkle nozzle. if you try to dump it on out of a bucket, you will get uneven etching results because the mixture will go on unevenly. sprinkle, let it sit for a minute, and then start scrubbing.

Why not just use 1/2" copper? Its cheap, easy to work with, available everywhere, and very safe for compressed air. Get a MAPP gas torch from sears, some flux and solder, a cheap tubing cutter and you're ready to go!
