I plan to buy a set for this and I want to ask if I do really need this whole set? Or is it a good idea to buy by piece? The most useful is the first priority. Any thoughts?

What can I buy for my dad who's 72 years old and still loves to fix things? I can't buy the very expensive ones so maybe those that are affordable but good for the old man. I know it would make his day.
