    The $30.oo Car Lift.

Yes, you used Bud Light. You need a good, stout German brew for holding up trucks. Jim

Black water pipe vs Copper for air line?

I used galvanized steel. So far (8 years) I haven't seen any rusty water collecting in the moisture-collector-thingy (whose name escapes me at the moment). Jim

Packaged dimensions for the Bendpak HD-9 lift?

You're welcome. Here's a pic of mine before I unbolted the ramps from the 'pallet'. The ramps form the pallet using big, heavy brackets on each end (that you discard). They jam everything else in between and on top of the ramps so it does wind up being pretty narrow. Jim

Lift options for less than 4" thick pad

I definitely wouldn't cheat on the specs. Make sure your mounting surface conforms to the manufacturer's specs 100%. This is important both from a safety and warranty perspective. Safety aside, the lift is a fairly big investment. If you have a failure that damages or destroys it you're...

Compression - Show Off Your Compressor

You're right, it does. You can see it in the picture. I've had it so long, and it's been tucked under that shelf for so long, I forgot about it. It's been a good machine - it's totally out of sight, out of mind. I turn the regulator knob and there's air. I do wish it was an upright...

Packaged dimensions for the Bendpak HD-9 lift?

If it's like the Rotary unit, and I'd imagine that it is, the palletized load is as long and as wide as the runways. Jim

    garage door install ???

Thank you. I had done some research online and locally and came to the conclusion that by the time I got the parts that I'd be better off just paying someone to do it. I don't want Franz to have a stroke, but after doing the research I was willing to pay up to $500 for the job. When the guy...

    garage door install ???

Yeah - that was me that paid $350. Bottom line is that my time is more valuable than his. It was a bargain as far as I'm concerned. The guys were nice, courteous and knowledgeable. The $350 paid for what would've been a full Saturday of me screwing around with the tracks, angle iron, torsion...

    garage door install ???

I kind of questioned the need for tapered drums on a door that essentially weighs nothing, but they did it anyway. Jim

    garage door install ???

Just a data point for you: I just had mine 'raised' (existing door tracks moved to hug the ceiling) for $350. Worth every penny to not have to mess with the torsion bar. That price included parts and labor for removal of my overhead springs, installation of the new tracks, torsion bar and...

Compression - Show Off Your Compressor

I have an old Campbell-Hausfeld 220V compressor. It has a single cast iron cylinder. In the pic it looks like it's leaking oil yet the oil level hasn't gone down in the 12 years I've owned it. It's in my basement and plumbed into the garage: I bought one of these last year and mounted it...

    Bend pak HD-9 questions

Richard, With your combined height it's definitely doable. I know this thread is a BendPak HD-9 thread but....the Revolution has stops at 51" and 57" and a runway height of 5" (actually 4.75"). With the 2" clearance they recommend to lift it off the locks (you don't really need 2" either) you...

    Bend pak HD-9 questions

Richard, Ceiling height is 127" measured in the middle. Because of the slope of the floor it's going to be slightly less at the front of the garage and slightly more at the rear (by the doors). The Caddy is 2" taller than the Buick so I'll have to keep an eye on it as it approaches the...

    Bend pak HD-9 questions

Thanks. Yes it is the 'standard' Revolution. They have a taller, wider version too. Like I said before, I can't remember why I ruled out the BendPak. It very well may be the same as the Rotary. I looked at lots of them and ruled out the foreign made ones immediately, despite the fact that...

New 4-post lift installation - leveling questions

Hi all, I'm new to The Garage Journal Boards and have come seeking advice from those who have 4-post lifts in their garages. I will readily admit that I have some sort of mental defect where I need to over-analyze things to the point of near-insanity. My latest ****-retentive compulsion is my...

    Bend pak HD-9 questions

I just bought and installed a Rotary Revolution lift in my garage. I looked at the BendPak at Northern Tool but I don't remember why I decided against it. It's a lot cheaper than the Revolution, but I think the lock positions and overall dimensions didn't work in my application (I have very...
