Help: LED lights & ceiling fan issue

I've got a Harbor Breeze (from Lowes) ceiling fan and I replaced all (3) 40w light bulbs in it with 5.5w LED's and now when I turn ON the fan & lights, they both come on but the lights go out about a minute or so later... And the fan continues running. There is no remote control. When I flip the...

    Recommendations for Pancake Air Compressor

I've been looking at Pancake Air Compressors (6-Gal) and the more I look, the more confused I get... the reviews are all over the place on these things. What's a good quality brand? Lawn Mower Blade Sharpener

Does anyone know of a good Lawn Mower Blade Sharpener tool? There seems to be a lot of them for sale on Amazon, but I wonder how well they really work. In the past, I've removed the blade and ran them through a table-top grinder. But I'm probably not putting a great edge on them.

Q?: Wiring a NEST Learning Thermostat

I just installed a NEST Learning Thermostat (Gen 3) for my son in his condo... His old thermostat had a jumper from Y to W, so I installed the NEST with a jumper Y1 to W1. Apparently, jumpers are forbidden (or not needed)... So, should I connect the wire to Y1 or W1 terminal??? Thanks.

Opinions on DeWalt DCPW550 Cordless Power Cleaner

I've been considering buying a DeWalt DCPW550 Cordless Power Cleaner wand. I need something to wash aluminum siding & concrete patio/sidewalk/etc. It seems like 550 PSI would work well enough for my needs, but I would like input from somebody that actually has one. Reviews are very mixed (I...

Daikin Gas Furnace - Good Quality?

Uh-Oh... HVAC guy was doing a furnace cleaning on my 16 year old Armstrong forced-air gas furnace and found 4 cracks in the heat exchanger. He shut off the gas & tagged it as being unsafe to legally use. Now I'm investigating a new replacement. Good thing that I have time before the...

Opinions for Floor paint in Basement

About 25 years ago I etched the basement floor with muriatic acid solution and put down DIY epoxy. It held up a long time, but now there are a lot of worn & bare areas, and is starting to look bad. What are my options here??... I'm leaning against epoxy this time, as I don't want to deal with...

Anybody use Plasti Dip on tool handles?

I'm wondering how durable Plasti Dip would be on tool handles... Anybody use it for that application? Also, I've been looking for Plasti Dip 14.5oz (not aerosol) can in YELLOW and nobody seems to carry it locally. All I can find is BLACK. I can find it online, but it's much more expensive...

Do I need a vapor barrier?

Just a little background info... One of my block walls in the basement was starting to bulge in so I had a foundation repair company come in and excavate outside & straighten it out. Then they installed vertical steel posts inside along the wall to strengthen it and prevent any re-occurrence...

How to clean out old steel gas cans?

I picked up 2 old metal Eagle brand safety gas cans for free. They are both in good shape with no apparent rust issues. They were about half full with what smelt like Kerosene (or Turpentine) or maybe it was just old bad gas. Anyway, I disposed of the liquid at our local Hazardous Waste...
