    Short block cleanup before assembly

Wanted to get some opinions here. I have a Nissan V6 motor out. I took the heads off and got a valve job done. I'm not planning on rebuilding the short block, but would like to clean it up a bit of the varnish and other buildup. How do you guys recommend I do this? Pull the oil pan and...

    Sears in stock items

Maybe someone here that works at Sears can chime in, but what's the sears policy on rotating stock? With the new dual marked sockets (stamped and laser etched), what do they do with the older laser etched only sockets? I see that almost all of their stock is of the new variety and I find it...

    Tire inflation safety chamber

Hey guys, saw this on craigslist and was wondering what it's for. I've never seen or heard of one, where might this be used? http://losangeles.craigslist.org/sfv/tls/757313362.html

    1 1/2" drive socket set

Anybody ever heard of a 1 1/2" drive socket set?? http://losangeles.craigslist.org/lgb/tls/680392811.html What would these be used for? Street light poles?

    1.5" and 2" extensions useful?

Do any of you guys find much use, if any, for the super short socket extensions that Craftsman has? I'm talking about the 1.5" in 1/4 and 3/8 drive and the 2" in the 1/2 drive. Normally if I needed something like that, I'd just grab a deep socket or maybe a 3" extension. Well, as part of the...

Made in China or Taiwan preference

Okay guys, we all know that 'Made in the USA' is what we all look for when it comes to tools, but if you had to buy something that was made overseas and you had a choice of 'Made in China' or 'Made in Taiwan', which would you pick? For example, there may be some old stock that was Made in...

    Craftsman socket detents

For the past few years, Craftsman sockets now have double detents in the drive end where the ball of a ratchet or extension would sit in. I remember seeing this as "feature" in one of the catalogs, but still didn't understand its use. They are for sure on the 3/8 drive sizes. Can anybody...

    Craftsman not so successful innovations...

I remember Craftsman used to have anti-roll sockets. The sockets had a plastic band with a flat spot so the sockets wouldn't roll away on you. Anybody have those? What about the mid-length sockets from the not too distant past? I never saw the purpose of those. Can anyone recall any other...

    Vise Grips at Costco

My local Costco has a 2 piece IRWIN Vise Grip set (5WR and 10WR) for $9.49. That's a great deal if you're in need of some. The small one alone would cost more than that. I think Sears has the same set for ~$25. Still made in the USA (of Global Components).

    Swench?

Anyone seen or heard of these before? http://www.powerhawk.com/pages/SWENCH/swechfront.html It's a manual impact wrench that looks like a ratchet but does not have a ratcheting mechanism.

    Palm nailers

Anyone have any feedback on palm nailers? For projects around the house, I thought this would be pretty handy to have since it's fairly affordable (compared to a framing nailer), can use standard bulk nails, and can drive anything from 5d to 70d nails. I was looking at the Porter-Cable one...

    Craftsman creeper

Sears has the standard 36" creeper on sale this week for $15. Anyone use this? I know they usually bundle this one with jack purchases sometimes. Just wondering how sturdy they are and if it's worth my while. Any feedback would be appreciated...
