backer rod used for control joints under tile?
is backer rod a potential solution for the control joints (not expansion joints) in my garage? I am about to lay 8x48 porcelain tile and was planning to just thinset the control joints. any advice on this? thanks! -

I am about to lay 8" x 48" tile in the garage, what kind of thin set? is the cheaper stuff at home depot etc. sufficient? it is virgin brand new concrete in Ga where it doesn't get very cold. thanks! Nick -
