Improper use of the variable speed on your drills/drivers/impacts is no bueno!?

Just saw this on a DeWalt brushless impact wrench use and care guide. Granted most of the stuff on here is disclaimer material and pretty generic... I use the variable speed all the time even with a 3 speed drill and haven't had any problems yet. it says use only when starting holes and...

    Anyone else love knipex?

I have come to know, love, and appreciate good quality pliers. Channellocks, SK pliers, Klein's, Leatherman to name a few. Knipex pliers are growing inside of my tool bag. Blue handles are being replaced with red, and USA with GERMANY. Some blue handles kept their spot, while the red ones turned...

I recently built a "ranch style??" Porch on my home and am down to the finishing touches. I'm constantly looking for inspiration, I really want to make it nice, but also unique. I need elements that speak to my personality. The deck is 36" from grade at its highest point, code here requires...

    Circ saw experts!

Anyone know why my 6 1/2 and 7 1/4 battery saws have the motor on the right of the blade vs the left? I enjoy a great line of sight like a worm drive but with half the bulk. Also, blade rotation is CW vs CCW and the blades are designed accordingly, although I have older 6 1/2 blades from...

    "can I borrow your..."

They say sharing is caring. They told us as kids to share our toys. Now I'm a grown-up and I say I don't care, I'm not sharing my toys anymore! We both work at the same joint. If I can buy the tools I need to make life easier for myself then so can they. Besides, I keep allowing them to use my...

Channellock Torture Test: GL10 VS GRADE 8 BOLT

Decided to see how the 10" Channellock Griplock pliers would hold up in a torture test with the infamous grade 8 bolt. This is a small, 3/8" shank bolt with a 9/16" hex, and 1.5" in length. The test was simple: stack the bolt to the top with grade 5 nuts with matching thread size, and put it in...

Let's see your beloved workbench trinkets

The American Restoration show's introduction says it all. A man's workbench tells a story. Along with scattered tools and works in progress, I have a small random collection of trinkets that add to the story. Do you have such collections that share a space with your tools? If so I'd love to hear...
