    Drill Bit vs Steel

I need to enlarge a 5/8" hole to 3/4" through 1/4" steel. I measured the hardness at 58 (Rockwell "C"). A Nicholson file, for comparison, tested 66C. Do i stand a chance, or will I just ruin a new carbide bit?

I'm thinking this belongs in the category containing SawSaws, Radio Arm saws and such, but whattheheck is a Rachel in Screwdriver? Is that how we Kentuckians s'posed to say "ratchet"? Or is Rachel legitimate and I'm just ignorant of all things Yankee Screwdriver? :headscrat...

    Metric Square Drive?

The machinery I am responsible for is primarily German. This particular unit is of late 50's design, early 80's manufacture. I've been into a half-dozen of these and they're put together like an old Rolls-Royce - every machine is just a little bit different. Lots of hex socket caps and...

    Spark Plug Boot Pullers

Every car I've owned 'till now has had spark plug boots that come straight off the top of the plug - in an easily accessible location. Just grip the boot firmly with hand, pull straight off. Now I have a GM 5.7 V8. The plug boot/wire turns 90 degrees off the top of the plug, which is nestled...

    air system components

Just obtained a used Ingersoll Rand compressor: Type 30-242, 5hp - 175psi - 16cfm@90, ASME tank. Now I'm reading up on the usual air system stuff like copper vs black pipe, etc. Can I get a run down on the relative quality (pecking order?) of components such as regulators, filters, lubricators...
