Do I need to worry about this kink?

My minisplit was attacked by a falling thing, which damaged the lineset cover, and resulted in this kink in the bigger line. It continues to work, so I don't think it's leaking. Do I need to get it evacuated and replace the line? or is just replacing the insulation (with what?) and ignoring...

    Why doesn’t the snow melt?

Walked across a college campus tonight right after a light snow. They put so much salt down the snow was all melted. Except there were a few squares where the snow had not melted. There’s no way the salt tractor could have done that. So what’s the difference? There are some areas in that...

Tools you have absurd numbers of

Doing some cleaning and organizing, I discovered I have no fewer than seven 9" paint roller frames. Bog standard, you probably want a pole to go with them, frames. Plus one with a bit of telescoping pole built in. Plus hot dog roller, three narrow roller frames, a corner roller. I am not a...

    Change your saw blade!

I went to use my circular saw today. I remembered that I thought it cut badly the last time I used it, so I grabbed the spare blade and put it on. I can’t imagine why it didn’t cut well…..

    Paste wax options?

I am about out of my last tin of sc Johnson paste wax. Since they don’t sell it anymore, what’s a reasonable alternative? I use it on oiled finishes, raw wood and machine tables.

    milwaukee battery rebuilding

I have several Milwaukee battery packs that don't charge. They're old, well out of warranty, and have dead or deadish cells. (I've taken a ocuple of them apart to see.) I'd like to get them rebuilt. Any suggestions on some place that rebuilds them? I have no interest in doing it myself.

1/4" socket drive metric hex set

I'm looking for a all 1/4 drive metric hex socket set, from whatever up to at least 6mm, preferably 8. There are a bunch of sets that switch from 1/4 to 3/8 at 6mm, and I need a 6mm one. Probably not willing to pay snap-on money, but I don't think this is a place to cut corners, either.

    EVSE choices?

I'm considering buying an electric car. So, if I do, I'll need an EVSE for the garage. I don't know much about the state of equipment, what the choices are, etc. What do people like? the garage has a 100A feed, and I can install it hardwired or an outlet and use a cord connected one. (my...

    metric tap and die set

I need a set of metric tap and dies, covering the standardish range used on cars, etc. I know the general advice is "buy as you need them", but I got stuck tonight, and needed a tap I didn't have, and had to buy a garbage tap from an auto parts place. The use is mostly cleaning up existing...

    Good crimp terminals

I want some decent crimp terminals for general use. Rings, spades, quick-disconnect, splices, that sort of stuff, not connector pins. 10 awg would be the biggest use, 18 or 20 the low end. Basically, the red, blue, and yellow kits found in autoparts stores would cover my needs, except those...
