Has anyone seen a parts washer like this?

Picked up this old parts washer. I can’t figure out if it was built for a specific purpose or if it was common and multi use parts washer. Has a copper coil in the bottom and the tray comes up while the lid raises at the same time when you press down on one foot pedal. Step on the other pedal...

Vintage Starrett Combi Square for 50 cents

Found this vintage Starrett Combination Square at a Restore outlet for 50 cents. Never owned one before but it’s nice and tight and it’s quality seems amazing. Any rust on it very minimal on the surface. Scribe is even still with it.

    Grinder from the War Department

I’ve always liked to think of my 1930’s/1940’s tools being used in the war effort. This might be the closest I found. Saved this massive bench grinder out of a scrap pile. The wheels are 12” diameter and 2” wide. 2 Tags on the front, one identifies it as a Hartman Induction Motor from Hartman...

    Garage we built from scratch

Here is a short video of us building the garage on our land. It’s a barn now for us...but hopefully some here get ideas to build garages as well.

We finished it in just under a year.

We’ve never built one before. More barn than garage. It houses the tractor and shop room so it counts as a garage right?

Just got this old Delta bandsaw from a friend...

He saved it from scrap, but after a while realized he wasn't going to do anything to it anytime soon so he gave it to me for what little cash he paid for it. Its all there except for the three phase motor that was on it when he got it. Anyone here have an idea on its approximate year?

Looking to put up a metal building (What company to use, who to trust)

Well, the wife and I finally realized we need to get the shop started. We live on five flat acres and I was thinking a 40' by 60' metal building will be a good size. I have to check with the county if that will be too big for an ag permit and if so what permit I need. I have tried researching...

We just bought our first house...with five acres!

We got it! I have been afraid to say anything because I didnt want to jinx it, but here it is...we just bought our home. It has five flat acres so if I can get through all the permits, green building and sprinkler requirements, a shop building is hopefully in the future! This is after a hard...

Look what I found in a concrete pile, anyone know how old?

Cleaning up a pile of concrete between our firehouse and an old building...I found this Vaughan hammer head at the bottom of the pile. Anyone have an idea how old this hammer head is? I'll clean it up, give it a new handle and it'll swing once more.

Someone helped to get me a USA piece that is now made in China

I was at a hardware store the other day, and looked through a coat rack of Ben Davis shop coats. I was looking for a snap front, black jacket that costs about 70 bucks. I noticed the Large jackets felt different than the XL's. The Large jackets were thicker, stitched better and felt more dense...

Does anyone know how to adjust the drawer retention on this style box?

Does anyone know how to adjust the drawer retention on this style box? In particular the large top drawer? When I shut this drawer the left side will stay in all the way just fine, but the right side will "pop" back out to the front about 3/4" after closing all the way. It will only stay...

A buddy has a Delta Rockwell 17-600 drill press. Serial number is 1386248 The serial number plate is a simple rectangle, polished on top, black on the bottom. Serial plate says the drill press was made in Pittsburg. From these numbers and info is there any way to tell approximately when the...

Please help-problem with a Mig Welder

So a good friend of mine let me borrow his barely used Hobart 135 Mig welder. Im just welding some sheet metal, mostly spot welds. It did fine for the first couple days, now a problem I cant trace. If you do about 4 or 5 spot welds quickly, the wire feed comes to a stop. If you wait about 20...

Vintage Snap-On Tap and Die set from craigslist!

Check this out. It looks like a great set in decent shape with many extras. I scored it on craigslist and am very happy. I have been very disappointed with modern taps. Old American made seldom lets me down. Is anyone familiar with this set? Approximately when it was made? Thank You

A 1967 Snap On tool box we restored

Here is a 1967 Snap On tool box that the boss of shop I used to work at gave to me when I was working there. I was stoked as its the same year as my Camaro and looks good next to it. The wife even took part in restoring it with me. Got the correct paint from Snap On and the aluminum door clean...

How about a thread with images of the tool co's rebrands of other co's

There is a lot of disscussion on here that some of our favorite and possibly now former favorite tool companies rebrand some tools of other tool companies. Maybe some members here could post images of the tools they have of say Snap-on, Mac, Matco that are rebrands of other tools. If you have...

I picked up this old engine analizer from a shop that closed down in Richmond Ca. It has all its leads and manuals. They of course said it worked fine, but you know...
