I watched the Wiltons for 4 days thinking someone would ****** them up. I caved Friday and bought them.

I did not buy the pair yet. The nut was not broken but the threads were worn thinner than I liked. I inquired about an unmachined casting and considered trying to thread mill the replacement nut to match the existing screw.

AndrewH: I called Morgan Vise Company recently to replace the nut in my Morgan Chicago 60 vise. They informed me I would have to buy the nut and the spindle to repair the vise. They changed from a Square Thread to an Acme Thread sometime over the years. That may be the same scenario for your...

Picked up this 6" jaw Morgan 60 off CL Wednesday. Jaws are in excellent shape and it was only 10 minutes away from where I work. Weighed right at 128 lbs.

American steel - I have had good luck removing the stuck swivel pin from both of my prentiss vises. I suggest that you first remove the swivel base from your vise. That should allow you to insert a long punch through the swivel base tapped hole and hammer the pin out from the bottom. While...

drivesitfar: no, the cart is heavy enough it does not want to tip.. I do need to put a stop on it so it does not roll so easily when I am working on something. I picked the cart and the columbian up at an auction for 55 dollars late last year.

Finished painting it this weekend. Standard sized aerosol can in picture for size reference. Weighed the completed vise and it is right at 200 lbs.

The logo behind the swivel jaw was beaten so bad it could not be read, vise is marked PVCO on front of dynamic jaw.

The swivel lock pin on the vise was broken when I got it. Fixed by drilling and tapping so the original pieces could be salvaged. Also the swivel base was not flat so it was cleaned up on the surface grinder. This is the second Prentiss that required the base to be ground.

drivesitfar - specs are 7" jaws and 11" opening That matches the vintage ads I have seen for the No 23. Amazing seeing it next to the No 21 I worked on at the end of last year. The extra 1-3/4" jaw width added around 100 lbs of steel to the vise. zkling - the stand was part of the purchase...

drivesitfar - It does not weigh 287 lbs. I am predicting it is between 210-220 lbs. I weighed parts as I took it apart and it is somewhere in that range. I will weigh the final product once I finish the rest of the repairs and reassemble.
