What prevents it from going out to 30' at the minimum? Is it a land spacing issue? Could you do 30 x 21 (same square footage, but far more standard to layout)? My garage is 21 x 29ish and I can fit my project car in there, have toolboxes at the front, shelving and work benches around the edges...

Can you make it wider? 24' will feel pretty narrow once you start putting stuff in it. I'd do 30' wide if you can swing it financially. That little 8.5' section is only 6" wider than a 2x4 is long.

I don't know anything about Australian code. Sorry. But in all honesty, you would do well to tidy up the Romex coming into the box and running each wire (ground, hot, neutral) in a tidy manner so it is less difficult to look at/decipher the more you work in this box.
