The ones I bought on eBay were counterfeit. They came with all the paperwork you described.... Took some effort but after surfing the net and the Mitutoyo website, I was able to verify that they were in fact fakes and got my money back through PayPal.

Thanks for the reply, I too am so tired of the clutter as I have so much equipment stuffed into my two car garage that I have no room to work. I have been reluctant to build a detached barn/garage in part out of concern how much my taxes will increase. Heck, they will go up if you put a shed...

One of the main reasons why I have not built a workshop on my property is the affect it will have on my property taxes which are already hovering at 12 grand per year in NJ.

I was under the impression that the Fahrenheat unit is made in the U.S., my Dayton (Grainger) clearly states that it's made in China. No where on my unit does the name Fahrenheat appear so I am not sure they are made by the same company hence my comment about it being a Chinese copy or knockoff...

I have a 5 KW Dayton which looks to be a Chinese Fahrenheat knockoff. Anyway, I can't keep my hand in front of the vents for more than 30 seconds without it getting burned. I would humbly opine that there is something wrong with your unit.

I'm from NJ, do you know how much it will raise your property taxes? Yes, in NJ that is always a concern. Already paying 12 grand on a little more than a half acre of property in Central, NJ....Ugh
