If I put a counter top type on it do i overlap it and leave a lip, or do i set it inside on the actual top of the box?? Theres like a lip all around it. I dont think that lip would support the counter top would it? Or do I need a board to go in there and make the whole top one level?

Buy a couple new batteries. Then you will have your cordless drill back in your tool stash. My DeWAlt is a 12v and is 14 years old. The 12v batteries are low in price now, and I took the old battery apart and rebuilt them with new batteries myelf for 1/10th of the cost of a new battery.
