What to worry about when getting concrete done

I can't even stress this enough! This was my terminal mistake. My concrete is usable...but not exactly how I wanted it, or even exactly what we talked about. I didn't have a written contract (also my mistake), but if I had been there, the small issues would have been alleviated.

    Used lift advice

I bought a used SPOA7 Rotary. I put new hoses and new cables on it. Its in decent shape, to me, to some its probably on the rough side. I paid $800 for the lift, and probably have 3-400 in hoses and cables. It works perfectly. I am overall very happy with it vs what I have invested. If I really...

    Pole Building Builders in Pa

Timberline did mine also (assuming it was the Timberline out of Ohio), I'm fine with the building, especially at the price. Their communication wasn't great though.

    Mower recommendation?

I have a Toro Titan 54" w/My Ride. I absolutely love it. The My Ride system creates an incredibly smooth ride over my not so smooth yard. I was tired of fighting my older 3 cylinder compact tractor and belly mower, parts and availability were horrible and huge $$. This thing just goes...

    Rotary 7k Lb lift

I have a SPOA7 also, lifted my 2004 Silverado 2500 with no issue whatsoever. I don't know its weight, but I had it on the lift for 2.5 weeks while I pulled the transmission, had it rebuilt and re-installed it.

12’ or 14’ tall rollup doors for RV?

What type of RV now? Possible future upgrades? My travel trailer is 11' 3" tall I believe.

    Pole barn builder (building plans)

I agree with this, however I don't blame the OP in the slightest for the additional plans, and adjustments to meet local code. I did the "week long process" method. I didn't get any type of plan other than a pen drawing on a file folder. In fact, door location was determined essentially the day...

Concrete: Don't Pay for Bad Work

This was my "fatal" mistake. Everything at the end of the day turned out "ok" just ok, I don't rave about the work my contractor did, nor would I necessarily recommend him. Just staying home from work that day would have solved my simple issues though, I kick myself for it every time I look...

    Two Post Lift

I found a used Rotary for $800, needs hydraulic lines, cables, and cleaned up some, but I figure I'll still be well under half of a new one by the time I'm finished fixing it up, and have the piece of mind that I have a good quality lift.

    Massive Harbor Freight Price Increases

It does appear that this is the case. Possibly just a giant glitch in the system. I haven't looked that deeply into it yet.

    Massive Harbor Freight Price Increases

Thanks for the link! I figured it had been discussed somewhere here by now.

    Massive Harbor Freight Price Increases

Did anyone else notice huge Harbor Freight increases? I just bought a wheel bearing press the other day, $129.99 its 159.99 today. 4-drawer rolling cart usually 179.99 or so I think? Today 279.99.

    30x40x12 Great Value shop.

At that height of wall, I'd want 2x6 framing, not 2x4. I'd also try to draw your front view to scale, I think you will find it fills out differently. I attached a picture of my 30x40 with 2 10x10's on the front. I have 3 feet from the wall to the first door and 3 feet between them wish I would...

    Cost of slab?

I just paid $5.91 a sq. foot for my 30x40 5" slab, and apron (23x3). I never lifted a finger, so that included concrete, finishing, forming, a single drain, saw cuts, and 3 tri-axles of gravel, along with some miscellaneous dirt work around the building. Located in western, PA.

Direct Lift Pro Park 9 Plus, Crew Cab, Dually

My F-350 Flatbed extended cab weighed right around 8k also. Surprised it's that light. Thats a tight fit...but I guess if it fits it ships.

    Floor drain

In my 30x40 I only put a drain in the bay that I thought would ever have a car parked in it that would be wet or have snow/slop on it. The other bay will have a lift, and the rest of the garage will be workshop area, that is all perfectly flat. In the open bay, we just used a regular old 6"...

Excavate for concrete after building is finished or before?

Same, well for the most part, I had it rough leveled, but should have had it much closer to final grade...live and learn.

    Ring Security - Video Systems

I received a Ring 2 doorbell for Christmas, as stated above, one of the best things I've ever added to the house. I suppose what I didn't know wouldn't hurt me, but its crazy to see how much action there is at the front door. Typically its the mail, UPS, or FedEx guy, but its just nice to know...

    home additions? WTF?

We are having an addition put on our house now. I opted to have a GC do the work, planning etc. Hindsight I could have GC'd it myself I think, as there is still a fair amount of stress involved. We are adding 900 sq. ft. Of living space and 900 sq. feet of garage in a 2 story 30x30 addition. The...
