    Kreg HD screws vs ???

I have a couple comments about this.....the Quickscrews you linked are philips drive while the Kreg are #3 square. Typically not a price difference associated with this, but I would much rather use square or torx drive than philips. The Quickscrews are only black phosphate or zinc plated, the...

Yesterday it did, when you clicked on "read more". Maybe they ran out of USA and changed the description.

    Menard's Deals Permathread!

That could be a tricky one.....I have used rebates that had other's addresses on them, but I have also had a cashier check all the addresses and make sure they were all mine.

Cutting down a Snap On Allen Socket

Not sure you want to spend $25 on an infrequent use tool, but you spent $550 on a "bolt heater"??? :wtf:

    Menard's Deals Permathread!

Me too. And using all my past 11% rebates at the same time. So far, $500 worth of lumber has cost me $211. I need some more but gonna wait until Saturday to see if next week is 11% also.

    pole barn header help

This is true, however some building inspectors still require a normal header. I would ask the inspector what he wants so you don't have to redo it, or fail an inspection.

I'd like to add a side roof to an existing garage

I'm getting ready to do something very similar to that. I would be interested in seeing what was done to accommodate the contour of the existing siding where the lean-too roof comes into it. Is there some kind of flashing or what? I was going to cut some cedar to fit the shape of the siding...

    water in post holes

That's normal. Don't worry about it. We have a fairly high water table where I am. I could dig that hole in the middle of summer when it hasn't rained in a month and get water in the bottom.

    Hex insert strap winder

Before and after pic. Literally took 5 minutes to make. If you only spin in clockwise direction you wouldn't even have to tack weld the stud in. I used it to roll up some 1 1/2" flat discharge hose. Worked perfect.

    Hex insert strap winder

I ordered enough material from McMaster Carr to make two of these. Will cost about $15 total for two. Using Stuart's suggestion of a turnbuckle....that's what it looked like to me as well when I first glanced at it. It will just have a round shaft, not 1/4" hex. Going to use one of these...
