Found a deal on craigslist? - List Here!

Yeah, with the heavy manufacturing base here, we see a lot of three phase stuff on CL. There's often phase converters for sale or a lot of guys just switch to single phase motors if they can.

Outdoor storage shed. Build or buy prefab?

I bought an 8x12 from Home Depot for $1,600. I had to supply the footers, floor and shingles. It came with a transom window over the doors. It's a wood kit and everything was cut to size and ready to go. I took it home in my pickup truck. The quality is...meh. It's looks good painted, but...

Bought a HF 72" rolling tool cab

You did the same thing I did; I made my 8 year old daughter stand in the top drawer while I slid it back and forth. Got a funny look from an employee but he didn't object. I didn't stand in any drawers though, I'd probably tip it over... No hutch yet, but I think some have been made. Spend...

    Heat in my garage finally

If you don't mind my asking, what did the propane tank cost? What does an exchange cost and/or do they refill it onsite?

Hmmm... are you an undercover code enforcement agent or an IRS agent?

Doing ACTUAL work from a subdivision garage? Thoughts? Experience?

So I know this "guy" who works on cars in his garage; some for a profit. He lives in a subdivision with no HOA, but there are city ordinances about parking inoperable, unregistered vehicles on personal property. He occasionally brings home a parts car, but it's stripped and off to the...

    Heater Garage 120v no Gas

Vapor barrier - Aluminum siding over pressboard sheathing! So yeah, no vapor barrier. Not enough snow to pile up against the wall. So far, no moisture issues, but I will be watching it closely.

Best Rust Control Paint for Axle, etc

Whatever you use, stay away from the Eastwood Rust Converter and Encapsulator. They just don't work no matter how much prep you do.

    Diagnostic Scanner Questions

Snap-On Solus Pro here. Great scanner w/ bi-directional controls. Only get a Modus if you need the scope capability. I also have a Vantage Pro which is the scope and component tester in one. Drawbacks are they need keys for different vehicles, but you can find keys by the set or one at a...

    Heater Garage 120v no Gas

There so many variables at work here. I am like you; I had one single 20 amp circuit and no natural gas so I was running a portable kerosene heater that needed to be plugged in. It was noisy, smelly and I always had to stop to refill it. I also had to have enough floor space in front of it so...

We smell a little gas near the gas stove

WE Energies will be there in like 20 minutes or less if you call them. They'll have a guy come out and find the source and either fix it or offer a solution. They DO NOT mess around. Just an FYI, 25% of the LEL (lower explosion limit) can be smelled for several blocks around the source of the...

Tools made in your home town

Excellent responses! It's good to see that people are actually aware of the local manufacturing happening by them. I know the new Milwaukee power tools are no longer made here, but it's getting harder to find ones that are, by any manufacturer, especially cordless. At least the engineers are...

Tools made in your home town

Ever see a manufacturer's label on a tool and swell up with pride when you see it was made in your home town? I come across a lot of stuff made in Milwaukee and I like to image it coming out of a factory not far from me and it spending its entire life in the area only to wind up with me via...

So what does this hoser do when he's at a house with no tools? Does he just say, "Sorry, you don't have the tools I need so I can't fix your alarm." Unreal...

    Tools for Suspension Work

You should be in good shape. I can personally vouch for that OTC front end kit. Way better than beating the hell out of stuff with a hammer. A little heat and a separator will work wonders.
