    Wall color

Paint it a light color. If you properly prime and use a quality latex paint, you'll be surprised how easy it is to keep clean. I myself went with dark on bottom, light on top, and colored stripe in the middle. Totally worth the extra effort in my opinion, but then again most of the walls get...

    3D Printed Electrical Boxes?

3D printed parts are inferior to injection molded parts. It'll take your printer several hours to print that electrical box, and you'll find that its not as strong either, and will probably come out warped if you try to make the walls thick enough to be reasonably strong. 3D printed parts...

    Rebuilding Li-Ion power tool batteries

Oh, yeah, you're right. Now that I think about it they usually have the capacity written on them, but not usually the discharge rating. Either way I think you should be able to find some way what the discharge rating is of the cells you're replacing.

    Rebuilding Li-Ion power tool batteries

My understanding is that 3-5 years ago most manufacturers started using 30A cells in most of their battery packs, and many started using 21700 cells for their higher discharge ratings. I'm sure a 20A cell is fine for most uses (drill/impact/light, etc). I would be weary about using them on...

They're probably toast..... Rebuilt/aftermarket older Makita batteries are readily available for ~$20 or less all over the internet.

    Need a 4000 rpm drill

The only Cordless drills that I'm aware of that will do around 4000 RPM are: Festool Metabo The Festool kit is around $650, and the Metabo kit is around $400. I own a Metabo LTX-3 drill that does 3800 RPM in 3rd gear, and it is an excellent drill. I thought some Hilti 4 speed drills would...

Angle Grinder Bit for Light Metal Sanding?

Wire brush wheel or cup is probably the best tool/attachment for stripping paint off metal. Depending on the shape of your table, a smaller wire wheel or cup on a dremel or drill might be better for small hard to access areas. An angle grinder will remove the paint pretty aggressively, so you...

Looking for the most powerful cordless drill

All the major brands have a powerful drill that will suite your needs. Picking a drill over another drill because it has 7% more torque is dumb, in my opinion. I think it comes down to other features that appeal to you, such as battery availability, other tools, electronic clutch, 3 or 4 speed...

Theories why power tools aren't higher voltage

They'd make higher voltage tools if they could easily make higher voltage battery cells. 3-10 18650 battery cells work pretty well for most handheld tools. I'm no battery engineer or anything, but from what I understand, if you make a battery much smaller than an 18650 cell, you get less power...

    Garage Gloves

I use Mechanix gloves pretty exclusively. Their winter gloves are touch screen compatible, but they don't advertise any of their other gloves as being designed to work with touch screens. I do find that if I press the phone screen hard and flatly, that it does work somewhat with the regular...

Sharpened drill bits don't last 5 seconds.

If you overheated the bit and ruined the heat treat of it, the drill doctor will sharpen it again, but it won't really cut since they aren't hard enough. As others said, if you're drilling sharp, you'll want extra hard bits designed for metal such as Cobalt or Molybdenum bits.

Best play to buy a rolling tool box/chest online?

https://www.strictlytoolboxes.com/ You could call and ask before ordering, but I don't think they're having any delays shipping product due to COVID-19.

5" Angle Grinder, which to choose?

Metabo has a lot of nice features, but you do pay for them. I don't think Metabo publishes this, but this is the code for their features in the model names: W - safety clutch (although they apparently use W in some models without it) E - Electronic soft start V - Vario-Techo-Constamatic...

    3.5mm jack to wireless adapter

I've bought 3 or 4 different cheap (<$20) bluetooth to 3.5mm jack wireless adapters over the years, and I've had good results with all of them. I get about 40 feet of range usually.

    Jigsaws

Cordless 100%. Unless you're cutting thick stuff, the smaller 12v jigsaws are more than capable for home use type stuff. I have a Milwaukee M12 jigsaw and it has plenty of power to cut 3/4" wood and the type of stuff that a typically home user would use it for.

Small angle grinder abrasive arbor preference?

If at all possible I get the non-threaded type. The threaded type attachments can be a real SOB to get off the spindle sometimes... especially if it has been on for awhile. Never had a real big issue with vibrations from attachments unless they've suffered some sort of catastrophic damage, in...

Recommend me a 4.5" angle grinder

I have a variable speed grinder that I bought to do some granite and concrete work. For metal work type stuff, I've never used the variable speed function. Do you use the variable speed outside of masonry polishing?

Help needed looking for compact side cutters say under 5”

There are a few different styles. Most small cutters are flush cutters, but you can get some that are basically the same as larger cutters but smaller, that will handle bigger material. My brand of choice is Knipex, and they have a great variety available. Tekton will work too if you're...

HF small parts organizers holding up in rack?

I know HF changes their suppliers frequently, but my HF organizers have support structures on the "ears" which prevents mounting them in that way. I probably bought them about 2 or 3 years ago. It would be a shame to build a rack to put the organizers on, and then find that any new organizers...
