    31x58 UK barn conversion

I have finally got around to completing the remaining few small sections of the workshop ceiling:

    31x58 UK barn conversion

No, there is a full-sized door into the room as well ;-) My wife has joined in on 'the project' as well, taking an old orange towel that one of the boys had and the blue belt of one of their dressing gowns to make up the lettering: Now in place on my son's bed:

My little corner of the garden..........UK Build

Just catching up with GJ over the festive break and came across this thread which I had missed before. Great job you have done there Martin. Nice looking design too and, as you say, in keeping with the area (coincidentally I'm just down the road from you not too far from Braintree!)

    31x58 UK barn conversion

And here is the overall theme that we are going for and why I thought it may be of interest on GJ:

    31x58 UK barn conversion

It's taking longer to complete than I had hoped but some very wet weather here in the UK today has meant I was limited to indoor jobs and have now progressed to this:

    31x58 UK barn conversion

Do you ever have any trouble filling it up Baz? They were illegal to use here until Oct 2014 when the lawmakers saw sense and legalised them but one year on a number of petrol stations around here still don't seem to be aware and challenge me when I try to fill mine. I take a copy of the 2014...

Garage adventures of a Rallye fan

Only just come across this thread but really like what you have done so far Cris. Also like the cars. The 'kit car' almost looks like an equivalent of what I have been creating, which takes inspiration from the Clio 'Maxi' that was rallied back in the 90's. Do you know who manufactures that...

    UK build - Defender Outfitters

Just catching up with some threads after some time away from the board... This is an awesome build and I am very interested to do something similar myself at some point. The building looks great and I think the cost is very reasonable for what you are getting. I'm no Landie expert but currently...

    31x58 UK barn conversion

Another small project I have done over the last few months is to construct a fuel storage area. What with the cars, the buggy, the mowers, chain saw, strimmer, hedgecutter, etc. there is a need to keep a fair bit of petrol on site but here in the UK they have introduced a law where you are only...

    31x58 UK barn conversion

Well, it has been a while since my last update but it is that time of year when the evenings are closing in again and there is less stuff to be done outside and more time spent indoors on the forum! I've had a few bits of progress over the last few months - I also have an interesting...

    Uk Garage De-conversion

Lovely garage there Dan. Great work on turning it back into the use that was always intended for it, but I can tell from all the great kit you have in there that you probably wouldn't have considered a property with no garage or capabilty to add one. The property programmes rarely make mention...

    English Garage

Welcome to GJ Martin. There's a few of us on here from Blighty! Really like the old 1920s shot you have of the house. My neighbour has some within steam-powered threshing machines and the like in his farm yard but alas my place was just an empty field even just 30 years ago so nothing much...

    Nick's UK Garage (5.1 x 2.6m)

Great work so far Nick. Loving how tidily the ceiling has come out. Also having a chuckle imagining the people passing by looking in and seeing you vacuuming it :-) Shame the scum damaged the door trying to break in but at least they didn't get in I suppose - I had an up and over door at my old...

    31x58 UK barn conversion

Thanks for the suggestions guys. It took me some months to finish (cutting, staining and fitting one piece before measuring up for the next one above) but I have finally finished the cladding! I'm happy with the result versus the original. Onto the next improvement now.

    31x58 UK barn conversion

Well, I've finally reached the level of the top of the door: Ignore the wood down the sides. That will be stained to match the rest and cover the ends of the overlapping boards. I'm wondering how best to deal with the cutout at the top of the planks though? I have done a mock-up with my...

    Double Garage in England

Nice project. Not been on here in a while so this is the first time I have seen it but will definitely be following your progress in future. Loving the R34 too - have wanted one for a long time and that's my fave colour for them too!

    Between 705 & 1200 SQ/FT Mixed Grill - From London , England - GRIZZMAKES world

Also, just thinking of my next steps, did you have any balancing weights on the wheels to worry about? I guess the options are to paint over them (not ideal!), to remove them and mark their position somehow and hope I can attach them back in the same locations or just remove them, throw them...

    Between 705 & 1200 SQ/FT Mixed Grill - From London , England - GRIZZMAKES world

Rian, I remember when you did these and they turned out so well you inspired me to do mine sometime. Whilst my wife is away for a few weeks the family car can get a bit of a rest so I was thinking of doing them over the coming few days to surprise her when she returns. Do you have any more tips...

    31x58 UK barn conversion

Very good eyes you have there Matthew! Unfortunately the GT3 is only a 'standard' model rather than being an RS. I've made some progress on the (re)boarding up of the area around the roller door: I reckon I am probably about half way to completing it now. Progress has been a bit slow as I...

    Between 485 & 705 SQ/FT British Garage planned

Sounds like a good idea. I still remember the hours I spent painting all the walls in mine. It was breeze blocks mind, so painting a smoother surface would probably be a fair bit quicker! Great progress on the garage - it's looking fantastic.
