I use con-Fusion or Inventor mostly. Just kept banging on it until I get it to do what I want. One big problem I had with Fusion on first learning it was its default 'parametric history' timeline mode. I always turn that off and use 'direct modeling'. Just have to remember to save frequently.

Another thing to think about when going larger for the sake of bigger single-piece prints is the increased loss from failed prints. If you can break the design into smaller prints you reduce the risk that failure of a single print will scrap the entire assembly.

Unnecessarily going bigger has its drawbacks. It will add mass to the x,y mechanism, which can negatively affect print quality due to momentum. Larger build plates are subject to more warpage and longer warm up times to dimensionally stabilize. Higher energy costs.

The whole house and shop are powered by a hybrid inverter, part of the home's solar power system, that includes surge protection on both its inputs and outputs. I hope that will be sufficient.

An older install. A new install in progress. Just placed this new concrete pad, 24” x 40”, 6in away from the wall and a Mr Cool 24K condenser will go right in the middle of that for a 12in wall spacing. About 2 cubic feet of sacrete.

I think 12in is fine for a ground mounted unit. That’s what I’ve used before and am going with again on a current intallation in progress. The fans on these don’t spin that fast so not high velocity. The wall facing side should be the suction side so any wind pressure will probably reflect off...

Also on the reliabilty topic, I just found that my Yellow Jacket vacuum pump has broken. Only used it a few times. Turns out that these have a plastic motor to pump coupling that is prone to breaking. I guess just time has degraded the plastic and it let go. Got a new metal coupling for a few...
