    My Shop Internet Service Plan - Advise please

    Fiber is good. We just ran it between buildings at church. We were advised to use terminal blocks on the ends. Typically you don't want to risk damage to the ends of the fiber. So the go into the yerminal block, then you put short fiber patch cords to your media converters. Something like...

    Help: LED lights & ceiling fan issue

    There could be an internal wattage limiter in the fan that is not compatible with LED bulbs. I had to remove them in my fans when I switched to LED bulbs. Requires some re-wiring, so proceed with caution if you choose to remove it. The government forced the fan manufacturer to install them to...

    If you shock you well on a septic system, flush out the system to the outside as much as possible. I would not want all the chlorine in my septic tank.

    Fluke meters…Advice needed

    I teach electronics. If you want Fluke, the 115 is a good starter meter. It is a solid basic meter that covers the bases. They hold up well in a class full of teenagers.

    Garage Door LVL Header Size

    I would think the LVL manufacturer would be able to provide the correct size. Just like ordering trusses. Ask at the lumber yard. When I needed one to open up the back of house, the supplier sent out an engineer at no extra cost to size the beam.

    Anyone know anything about septic systems? (This seems closet to a "Plumbing" forum here)

    Here, once they run sewer line by your property, you cannot get a permit to repair a septic system. If yours fails, you must hook into the sewer line. This also means you get a meter on your well, as that is how sewer is billed, based on water usage. You are not billed for the well water, but...

    Duracell = DuraLeak?

    Prior to a regulation passed in 1996, alkaline batteries contained a small amount of mercury to prevent the build up of pressure inside the battery. Today batteries without mercury are more likely to build enough pressure to overcome the seals and leak. This is especially true in devices that...

    Pole barn nail remover

    Not that specific one, but that style has been around for years and works well to pull nails with destroying the wood. I have never tried steel, but I think it would be worth a shot. You don't have to pry against the surface.

    I have Hardiboard on my house. It is still holding the original Valspar paint from 2000. Hardi is heavy, and hard to handle, but lasts forever.

    Mineral oil in septic

    What about the Oatey Liquidlock gel that you put in toilet to pull them? It gels the water and then dissolves when you re-wet it. It says safe for septic, but I don't know how long the gel is stable. I have used it to pull a toilet for repair and it works well for that.

    I have a Keter folding table. It works well. Sam's Club has the best price, but not always available in-club.
