    I’d look at a Nova Comet 2. I can’t speak for the price, but I do know there are typically good sales for Black Friday. I started with one many years ago, and learned a ton with it.

    I always buy Freud bits. The 1/4” and 1/2” that I have now, have been in use for a few years. The 1/2” has had a lot of drawer boxes ran over it, mostly poplar but some walnut too. I can speak for oak. Most of my work is with walnut.

    The box joints( both the 1/4” on the drawers and the 1/2” on the cabinet construction) were all done with a box joint jig on my router table. I use spiral upcut router bits. The jig is from a Canadian company called Jessem. Please let me know if you have more questions.

    Multi-speed Drill Press

    Both of mine are from Nova and are both dc motors that are controlled via rheostat. I use different speeds constantly. They both also have an automatic start feature and electronic depth stops.

    Each Christmas I typically create a handmade gift for each of my wife’s four employees. This year they each got a Christmas ornament off of the wood lathe. The metal pieces are from Woodcraft.

    Today was day number 2 of my build on a wooden blown sbc. It’s my first week back in the garage in 3 weeks, as my cancer has kicked my *** lately. Hopefully another day or so and I’ll have it finished!

    Finally finished putting this pile of parts back together. Still working on sewing up the grass bag, and going to bend up a new metal bottom for the grass bag too!
