I think of solid works as a mechanical engineering program but I don't have a lot of basis for that thinking. Sketchup would work to make garage plans. If you are stick framing there are some extensions that do so much of the wall/roof framing quickly it's great.

I went with Kubota L3400 new in 2010 and zero issues. Personally I am really happy I didn't go sub compact. A few of my neighbors have them and they are just too small. Horsepower isn't indicative of how a tractor will perform in my experience. Weight and traction make a tractor useful.

I tore down part of a barn and the old slab is about 30x40. Left the slab on the ground and covered it with about 4" of gravel years ago and have had zero issues. Just normal gravel drive maintenance. In fact it's great because the gravel doesn't disappear.

I'm sure it would take a while to get the cost back in dollars but I put foam under my slab and it was one of the best things I did. I'd do it again 100 percent. The slab stays so warm when I heat it and it's much more comfortable on my feet. Worth every penny.
