Potentially switching careers to an electrician

I started residential when I was 22, moved into commercial and industrial, now been in house at a nuclear plant for ten years. It's good money but hours get cut back due to budget. I'm still looking to get out and go west and get into hydros. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G928A using Tapatalk

Trying to find some not made in China power tools, help!

Thanks for the info everyone, when I can get to a computer I'll be able to dig into all of the info in this thread. I did find the Kalamazoo combo sander but it's a bit big for what I need. On a side note I stopped in HF today just to check out what they had, geez the quality is terrible.

Trying to find some not made in China power tools, help!

I have been searching extensively for a combo bench sander, a small drill press, and a bench buffing wheel for some shop work. Everything I have found is made in China. I prefer US made but I would go with made in Germany too. I'd rather go new if possible. Anyone know of a solution? Thanks!

My garage. It is made in Ukraine.

I was just in Ukraine last July, I did that Chernobyl tour and visited Pripyat. It was on my list of places to go, you will never catch me in Mexico on some boring beach. Been to Estonia as well a few times. I had a friend living in Tallinn for a few years. Welcome!

All the Romex missing at the local Menards, is there a run on it or hoarding ?

I remember back in 1998ish #1 copper would get you $.50 a lb. A roll of #12 THHN was less than $20.

    Snap-on KRL1022 vs. KERN602A

It is getting that way it sure seems. Unfortunately the country may be going that way too, let's hope for a positive ruling on the Chicago ban, otherwise bad things will happen. Now back on topic. I saw an old Classic box on my local SO truck this AM. It was a repo that had seen better days...

    Snap-on KRL1022 vs. KERN602A

I found my KRL1022 on craigslist, it was only slightly used. The guy lost his job and needed to liquidate, I was in the right place to help him out. My problem with the box is it is a rarer paint code not offered in the catalog so getting side cabs to go with it is tough.

$262 Stiletto Ti Hammer now made in China!!!

I went into my local Fastenal with a large personal order. He started pulling all the different sizes of nuts, bolts, and washers out and after he was done I politely informed him that I would only buy made in the USA hardware. The look on his face was something I wish I had my camera for. He...

When Origin is Put Aside, What Brand Has the Best Tools, in Your Opinion?

I buy Snap-On not only because they are Made in the USA, but because they are the best. If you have ever tried to break free rusted torx bolts on a Jeep you will know why. Snap-On made the only bits that would not twist or strip out the bolt. I've tried many cheap Chinese, Korean, Craftsman...

If Snap on is not over-priced,

I buy Snap-On because the quality is the best. I have a Jeep that I'm rebuilding and they are full of Torx bolts that have shredded the cheaper Craftsman bits, and many lesser ones. Only once have I had to replace a SO torx bit. I also prefer Made in USA and SO makes most of their tools here...
