I figured the slider would be good for larger pieces of wood. Thanks for all of the input! I'm always a little hesitant to purchase something reconditioned... but that's just me. I'm definitely going to run up to Home Depot and Sears tomorrow to look at the Dewalt.

I'm looking to get a decent miter saw for weekend projects around the house and eventually a few furniture pieces. I don't want to spend a ton of money (we just had twins and they're already bleeding me dry), but I would like to buy something that will hold up over the years and do the few tasks...
