External Garage Lights...Linking to garage opener light circuit?

S10...thanks for the amazing narrative. I believe the relay approach is the best solution to both protect the circuit board and allow open selection of lights. I will probably need my daughter's electrician boy friend to help me sort though your notes. In the meantime...maybe a couple of...

External Garage Lights...Linking to garage opener light circuit?

Thanks S10...I kind of understand this...I guess I do need a "picture" :) Seems like the relay is the best choice...my daughter does have an electrician boyfriend that could probably make sure I didn't burn the garage down...or just ruin the circuit board. Other choice of the socket adapter...

External Garage Lights...Linking to garage opener light circuit?

I will stay away from the logic board. I think if you look at first suggestion that does not alter the board at all? Just take the opener light bulb and effectively power two outside lights triggered by the on off switch driven by the opener...merely plug your "extra" lights into the socket...

External Garage Lights...Linking to garage opener light circuit?

Somehow I get the feeling this may be a "better" solution than the easy one above? Might protect the opener circuit board from high voltage? Since I may even be technically challenged to get the wires made into a plug in solution #1...not quite sure what a really is or how it applies...

External Garage Lights...Linking to garage opener light circuit?

Amazingly simple! I would just need to turn the wires run from two outside garage lights into a plug. The wires are already there...just need to remove from the old unit and adapt to a plug...and of course get one of the socket adapters :) Actually could make it work on the old opener...

External Garage Lights...Linking to garage opener light circuit?

Getting new doors and new door openers. Existing openers were wired so that the garage door opener turns on two external lights and also turns them off...they are linked to the single bulb circuit on the opener. Turns out this was not something standard as provided for by the opener company...

I think, but am not sure, that it is "code" here in Minnesota. Maybe impacted by the fact that one is a wood burning boiler?? Tom

Direct Vent Gas Boiler...Exhaust Fan Noise???

Hello...I have a dual heat 4 zone hot water system...ie; propane boiler and a separate wood boiler. I used the wood boiler for four years but quit as I had excessive smoke back-up...likely(perhaps?) caused by the fact that the masonry chimney has BOTH boiler venting out through the one...

    Water Filter Filter Replacement..."STUCK"

Thanks All...got it loose by tapping on the wrench with a mallet...will add plumbers grease to threads and o-ring...and NOT "just tighten ONE more time! :)" Appreciate the help. Tom R in Two Harbors, MN...currently light snow!

    Water Filter Filter Replacement..."STUCK"

Relatively gentle hammer assist on the plastic wrench did the trick...did not get to the heating stage. Thanks all. Plumbers grease (along with careful hand tightening) seems like the easiest answer?? I assume most heardware stores would have "plumbers grease"? That isn't the grey stuff is...

    Water Filter Filter Replacement..."STUCK"

Hi All...I have a whole house "Omnifilter" filtering the sediment from our well water...we live in the country. I had some plumbing work done and had them put in a new Omnifilter (brand name). This is one of the plastic sediment filters with the drop in cartridge...very common. The new filter...

Good Morning...I am considering purchasing a 41" top/bottom tool chest. The HF 41" and the Menard Masterfroce 41" are both on sael...Menard Masterforce $698 and the HF is about the same. Any thoughts on which is "best" at essentially the same price? I like the red HF (but wish it were not...
