In the UK the common practice is for the seller/vendor's solicitor to prepare the contract and sent it to the purchaser's solicitor, together with the 'legal pack' i.e. title, property searches etc, with a target completion date. However, there is no contract in place until the purchaser signs...

I hope the sale completes in the next few days. It‘s very frustrating but some solicitors seem to leave everything to the last minute and inevitably a wheel comes off. All the best with the retirement though.

I have often wondered what has happened with Bill and Julie. Does anyone know?

It’s worth a lot more stripped of its insulation. My brother has a business selling cable and all the short ends of rolls are scrapped. He has a machine for stripping these. Real pikeys just burn them 😂

I have always been a bit curious about the position of windows in traditional cavity block/brick walls, in England. In Northern Ireland, with similar building regs I assume, we have a vertical dpc behind the outer leaf and the inner leaf returned out, with a 25mm thermal break behind the dpc...

Whitewall tyres might have been ok with the steel wheels, if you also had chrome hub caps, but totally wrong with your alloys. Which suit the car great btw.

You say, "rear tyres are toast", so presumably new tyres are needed. IMO you need 'taller' tyres. You have gone from 70 profile 15" to 45 profile 17", which is a significant part of the visual problem. It will also impact ride quality too. The overall height of the new wheel/tyre combo is less...

Looking great so far. On the expenditure/cost issue - don’t forget, the value of a piece of art is not simply a time and materials equation.

Dormer and Cleveland drill bits are very good, industrial quality. Better that the more easily recognised brands like Bosch or Milwaukee and certainly miles ahead of anything that you would buy in any regular retail/diy outlet. For example, the 7.5mm jobber length Cleveland...

We are just finalising the sale of my late sister-in-law’s house which has a virtually identical basin/vanity unit. It is finished with paint wash finish that subdues the natural gold colour of the wood but allows the grain to show through.

Hi Rian, if you are actually intending to tackle painting the Olds panel by panel, how about something along the lines of the iconic VW Golf and Polo Harlequin?

That was a great idea, to have the owner give it some regular use, before you complete the purchase and have to drive it home. Hopefully he doesn’t fall in love with it this week and decide to keep it.

Is that 'your' car?? Brilliant. Yes, go for a used DJI. I picked one up local to me on Gumtree for £120, complete with 3 batteries, spare propellers etc. It's a great little article.

I am always very vary of these ‘review’ sites that recommend a ‘best buy’, which has a huge list of ‘pros’ and the only ‘cons’ are; 1. Only available on-line, and 2. Often sold out due to high demand. The recommended best buy is invariably some obscure brand and surprisingly is actually in stock...
