    Lighting Choice; LED High Bay

Attached is a picture of one of my customers shops. This style of light works well on low ceilings because it doesn't create "hot spots" of light like the high bay style fixtures do. I can help you with your layout if you like.

4' fluorescent tubes vs. 4' led tubes?

Don't just look at the purchase cost, many places offer significant rebates for LEDs. I have some customers getting 50% back in cash rebates. Also, in general, fluorescent bulbs lose lumens faster than LEDs. Obviously that can vary greatly based on the quality of LED you install. It doesn't seem...

    Surface mount LED

I have low clearance, surface mount LEDs available if you are interested. They only take up about 1.75" of space.

    How bright should I go?

1 lumen/sq ft is equal to 1 FC.

    How bright should I go?

Linear lighting will give you much better light over highbays especially on a lower ceiling. Most guys I deal with shoot for 75 lumens per square foot with the LEDs.

    LED lighting for outdoor

What wattage is your current light? Those 2 in particular give a fairly narrow beam angle. It will be very bright below them but not much out further. I have a 70W, 7500 lumen version with a 150 degree beam angle available. It has the twist lock dusk to Dawn sensor. There may be an even better...

    SAMs club led issue

The problem is its a big box store distributing lights from a lowest bid company. These places put out a bid request for X amount of lights a certain style and take the lowest bid. Once they get a bad name, they just change the name. Same for the majority of ebay/amazon stuff. The reason this...

    Help me pick T8 tubes

Why are you concerned about the 12' ceiling? I have LEDs on a 20' ceiling. Also, the LEDs wont be bothered by the cold.

Costco sells LED t8/t12 led tubes...anyone use them yet?

You cant compare lumens to lumens between LED and fluorescent due to the difference in light distribution. LEDs throw everything down. With the fluorescent, 50% of the light needs to be reflected to get to the ground. I would go with a ballast bypass LED. There is no need for a ballast with an...

    another led question

That is 75 lumens per watt. (which is even low for fluorescent) 90% of LEDs are running between 95 and 125 lumens per watt. Also, 2850 lumens out of a LED will produce more light than 2850 lumens out of a fluorescent. Simply due to the fact that the light coming out of the top 180 degrees of the...

has anyone used these as there main lighting for there garage

All that listing includes is the aluminum housing. There is no LEDs, driver, or way to supply power. I have something very similar with UL and DLC certifications. Guys love them in their shops because they are easy to install, take less wiring, and spread light out better than 4-6 bulb fixtures.

Quality LED replacements for 8 ft T12?

I can get them in frosted cover if that is what you prefer. Most of what I do is 14-20' ceiling height so the clear lens doesn't bother as much.

Quality LED replacements for 8 ft T12?

They are $44. They have 5280 lumens with a clear cover. We do not stock the frosted cover due to the fact it cuts the lumens down. CREE chips and Bridgelux drivers. 5 year 100% no questions asked replacement warranty.

    Do GFI's go bad?

I had one in the shop, with nothing plugged into it or any others on the circuit, that one day tripped itself. I could press reset all I wanted and it would continue to trip immediately. Put a new one in and the problem was solved. So I would say yes, they can go bad.

    LED vs. Flourescent heat generation

LEDs definitely run cooler. Grab a fluorescent bulb after an hour of runtime and compare it to an LED. The LED is cooler. Efficiency and comparisons are many times inaccurate. This is due to the fact that LEDs project all of there light downward where fluorescent throw their light 360 degrees...

    Wireless outdoor security cameras

Maybe a small solar panel to power the camera? It shouldn't take much at all. Not sure if this is an option for you or not, just an idea.
