Picked this bunch at an estate sale a couple days ago. Inventory of the 55 turns up only missing two cutters and the screwdriver. Been looking for a decent 12 for a few years that wasn't full blown retail. The Goodell jointer plane gauge was in a junk box marked free.

Adding knee braces to new pole building

20 something years ago I had 2 pole barns built a year apart. The first was going to be my shop and I didnt want any diagonals inside. It was designed like yours with the trusses being let into the posts and attached at both the top and bottom chords. That provided the racking resistance. The...

    Beginning wood working advice

My advice is to learn and be proficient with basic tools first. Take a class or 2 in basic joinery and hand tool use. This will go a long way to helping you understand woodworking. So many times I see people getting into the hobby buy a table saw and a pocket hole jig and have no basic knowledge...

    Pole barn nail remover

Rota broach will cut the head off the nail. Then once the metal is off you can deal with the rest of the nail if needed. Probably the least chance of damaging the metal.

Any boat builders? Looking for the best spar varnish/urethane/clear....

Liters not quarts. Why are you buying a 5l can? 2 liters is all you need and this stuff doesn't keep on the shelf once opened. Even sealed cans start to gel after about 2 years.

Any boat builders? Looking for the best spar varnish/urethane/clear....

I can get nearly 2 full coats on a 19' boat with 1 liter. I'd say 5 liters will be enough.

Foam doesn't hold enough material and let it flow on like a good bristle brush. Also introduces air bubbles in the material.

Brush guy here. Use a good quality brush like badger hair. Do not use foam! Epifanes can be sprayed but I'm not a fan of spraying it. Needs to be thinned too much.

    Looking at subcompact/compact tractors.

Different animals and situations. On the BX the mower is on all summer long with no need to remove it. But I drop the loader almost every time I mow for maneuverability. The mower deck is quite fiddly on the BX so that's why it stays mounted all summer. Backhoe on the L is on a subframe. 2...

    Looking at subcompact/compact tractors.

It's really not that complicated or time consuming. Fold down the integrated stand, lower the bucket, pull two pins, and four quick connects, back away. Going on, pull up to the loader, plug in the four quick connects, unfurl buck and install the two pins. Raise bucket and fold up stand. This...
