I'd say midway between solid and flimsy. I've had no problems so far. The MIDI is the one I drag around... the 36 pretty much stays put in the shop. I hadn't even thought to check until you asked. I don't notice it being flimsy when I wrap cord around it. I'm not tough on my tools though...
