I've been happy with my M18 trimmer. Trimming and blowing my 3300 sq ft yard only takes about 1/4 of the battery. I don't have the split shaft version, though I wish I did so I could get the edger attachment.

There is no reason to risk having to deal with the GW warranty, IMO. Other brands offer a similar price/value and are happy to make it right when there is a defect.

I've been very happy with the 19pc Williams set (it's actually 14 Williams drivers and 5 Bahco drivers).

My issue with Gearwrench is they expect you to mail them the tool on your dime, even when it is brand new and defective. It shouldn't cost me anything to replace a defective tool that I just bought.

I don't recall Tekton asking for proof of purchase when I needed a defective socket replaced. I filled out the online form, uploaded a picture, and a new one was on the way to me later that day.

I tried out the Gearwrench 84t based on all the love it gets here. It felt really nice when the pawl wasn't locking up. Came here to try to find a solution and was surprised to find how many others have issues with the 84t locking up and reversing itself, and I'm wondering how it still gets so...

That was probably ToolDiscounter helping you out. When I needed Gearwrench to swap out a brand new defective flex head wrench. They said I had to ship it to them (on my dime) to get it swapped.

I bought to minimize the size of a nano impact gun.

It's all cost. A living hinge allows the top and base to be molded together in one shot with no additional parts. It has to be thin to fold easily, and adding reinforcement would change the molding process completely.
