Broken Gear teeth - how do I get this gear off?

This is Garage Journal - some misshapen threads don't stop us! Fortunately, the nut still goes on with my fingers. Point taken about being careful around the threads, though. I have messaged them, and got a reply. They linked all of their replacement parts, which does not include this. They...

Broken Gear teeth - how do I get this gear off?

The smaller gear below the bevel gear is good. Fair point. If I cut the key I'd just have to find another key. Shouldn't be that hard, but finding a similar gear with the keyway will probably be a challenge.

Broken Gear teeth - how do I get this gear off?

Thanks. It's for an Advantco MX20 stand mixer (20 qt commerical). The mating gear is bad also. The gear below the bevel gear appears to be separate. The manufacturer sells similar gear assemblies (center axle) for other models, but they don't have it listed for this model. I sent them a...

Broken Gear teeth - how do I get this gear off?

I haven't been around in a while, and I thought there used to be a talk section that I would have posted this in. Not sure where else to put it. Any idea how to get this bevel gear off? The teeth are in bad shape, so I need a new gear. The "top" (short end of the shaft" has a key in the...

Combining (3) 8 gallon California Air compressors - opinions welcome

I have some air tools that I want the option to run. Also, I looked into that. Those cordless tire inflaters are really slow. DaveG: Thanks for your persistence! I'll keep that in mind if my under-the-bench idea isn't what I want. It's the easiest solution if I'm going to run all 3 of them.

    high flow shower heads?

If that's your desire, just run 2 heads!

Combining (3) 8 gallon California Air compressors - opinions welcome

I haven't tested them all on the same breaker. 8.5a is what the manufacturer says. I've tested 7.6 w/ my amp meter on the wire near the breaker. I learned today that two start ok if you turn them on at the pump, but if you turn them on w/ the breaker then they won't. The reason is that the...

    high flow shower heads?

Absolutely. The cycles on the well pump is what I'm more concerned about. Not criticizing at all, just saying. I do try to be conscious with water, but I also have a 5 gpm rain shower head and my pressure switch is set on 50-70. I drain my electric water heater after about 10 minutes, so I...

    Bulk bolts?

I went to my local hardware store and stocked some a few months ago. They sell them by the pound. I grabbed close to 10 each of the smaller sizes of bolts in varying lengths, nuts, washers. The bigger sizes are more expensive, so I just got a couple of those. I think it was well over $50. I...

    high flow shower heads?

Your water is free, but your well pump and electricity to run it likely is not.

Combining (3) 8 gallon California Air compressors - opinions welcome

Thanks for the feedback. I'll test the decibels again tomorrow w/ all 3 running, but I believe it was basically the same w/ all 3 vs just one...around 58 db if I recall. They're pretty quiet vs a normal compressor, which is why I like them. I've given up on attaching them to my 240v because...

Combining (3) 8 gallon California Air compressors - opinions welcome

I don't want another loud compressor. The California Air compressors (Two (8) gal 2 cfm & one (6) gal industrial 3 cfm) are really quiet, so I decided to just get 3 refurbished units from ebay for $125 each shipped and combine them. I will only use it occasionally to fill tires and rarely run...

    Connecting air compressors

I'm planning to do the same with 3 smaller California Air compressors. Your max pressure will be the lowest rated tank. Safety first. What I think I'm going to try to do is run all 3 of mine from one of the switches. In other words, one pressure switch will tell all 3 motors to kick on.

Please recommend a garden tractor for my use

8 acres total, but probably an acre and a half is what I use. The front yard with the automower is probably 1/2 acre then the rest. I've thought of that. I requested a quote yesterday, so we'll see what they have to say. I need someone to level it off anyway because I backfilled with dirt...

Please recommend a garden tractor for my use

I want to get rid of this mess and plant grass seed or something else, but I just don't know where to start. That area is where I pull my truck up to hook onto my trailer (lean to is to the right of the camera shot). I don't drive through there often, maybe 3 or 4 times a year lately.

Please recommend a garden tractor for my use

I just looked. I don't think I could find any Case or Ingersoll 4018's. It looks like a solid machine. I'd be interested if I could find one, and if they have good parts availability. The only thing I see on ebay is parts. That's actually the case with a lot of these. I'll keep looking. I...

Please recommend a garden tractor for my use

I'm not super excited about buying a 40 year old mower, but I want something that is tough. I'm not even set on a mower, but I don't know what else to do with the leaves. I have many mature trees with leaves. I used to mulch them with the mower. I can blow and burn them, but I only have a...

Please recommend a garden tractor for my use

I hate to mow, and I hate lawnmowers. I have about 1 acre I mow regularly, and a "field" area that I'd like to knock down once a month or so. My ground isn't perfectly flat, and I have plenty of rocks/sticks that I try to get out of the way, but things happen. I had a Craftsman zero turn that...

$ per sq foot survey for new builds

October was last month...has pricing really changed all that much in the past month? I thought it's been crazy for over a year. I understand every area is different and some people can't do work themselves, but I'm sure glad I "only" have $55k in my 2048 sq ft shop with 18' walls, 4 12x14...
