    Wilton bullet repair?

Thanks. No rush on the spindle. Both halves look to have the same finish. Did some come with mismatched numbers? The mate up perfectly. Is there any chance you might have a tailpiece? Sent from my SGH-T399 using Tapatalk

    Wilton bullet repair?

Did you ever get a chance to check on that spindle? Should I look for a matching dynamic jaw? Sent from my SGH-T399 using Tapatalk

    Wilton bullet repair?

There is a broken screw in the dynamic jaw. I looked at it for a moment and realized it would be pretty easy to get at if I had a vise to hold it. Sent from my SGH-T399 using Tapatalk

    Wilton bullet repair?

I got the tailpiece off. This is a good one to practice on. I figure I will clean it up and get it whole again. The plan is to put linseed oil on it and give it to a friend. It came apart easy. They really built these to last. Sent from my SGH-T399 using Tapatalk

    Wilton bullet repair?

The nut is completely useable. As long as it comes out pretty easy. I have started breaking it down for cleaning. The spindle retainer is worn pretty bad and another will have to be located. I really want to avoid new parts since this will be used a lot. Sent from my SGH-T399 using Tapatalk

What is the average price for a 5" Wilton bullet?

I have a crusty 8400 on the way. I am pretty excited. I am going to strip it, clean it, paint it and enjoy using a piece of history. It is a 52 date code. Would that have been blue? For some reason the Chicago models seem different from the Schiller Park models. Am I imagining that? Sent from...

Oh I have been on the lookout. I am going to focus on the 8400 first and look for the parts for this one when I can. Sent from my SGH-T399 using Tapatalk

original paint 68 year old wilton 8400 vise

I know this is an older post, but I just picked up the same model vise. Is that blue I see or gray? I am trying to figure out the original color of my bullet. Sent from my SGH-T399 using Tapatalk

    Wilton bullet repair?

I appreciate the info. I have a figure in mind. I just hate to see old tools die. I can sit this one back and slowly find parts. This old vise will never be new again, but it can be whole. Besides, this is cheaper than therapy. Sent from my SGH-T399 using Tapatalk

I think this one just wants to be whole again. I am already picking out a color for it. Hammered copper looks pretty good. Sent from my SGH-T399 using Tapatalk
