    workbench finishing advise

Agree with this. If it is a work top that will be used then it doesn't matter what it looks like because it will get abused anyway. Just put something on it cheap and easy to remove. Hot glue or epoxy will do the job if you do not want screws showing.

A couple of really good spaces you have. I have no idea how you find the time for it all with a family too! Interested to see how the cars progress, once i have done a few track days and get the bug i am sure i will want to get a project started and strip something out....

A quiet 'Clean' garage from Dorset in the UK

Found some time to sort the garage door seal out. Removed the old perished plastic one and fitted a brushed one. I also have a rubber seal to stick to the ground that stops leaves getting in which i will fit when we get a few days of dry weather with plus temps. Knocked up some wheel chocks for...

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

Found some time in between work and kids to fit a new seal to the garage door and also knocked up some chocks ready for the track car.

Garage Essentials for a Newbie Millennial

Good advice already, the best two being do not buy anything unless you need it and the other is it's ok to make mistakes. YOU WILL MAKE MISTAKES! We all do. That's how you learn. My no.1 advice would be to always wear the correct protective equipment. I work in heavy engineering where safety is...

Least Expensive, no frills, 2 car garage

Is it possible to build a simple lean-to on the side of the house? You could get a lot of materials from your local rubbish tip and also something like freecycle (not sure what you have that is similar over in the states where people advertise stuff they want taking away for free). Simple and cheap.

Thanks for the advice. I plan to simply change the engine and gearbox oil plus upgrade the brake lines and fluid. That will be it for the first track day (Probably Brands Hatch Indy). If all goes well i will upgrade the brakes and tires but that is as far as i will go.

On another garage note i recently was lucky enough to purchase my first track car. This is something i have always wanted to do but could never risk my daily driver. After lots of saving i managed to get a Clio 197 F1 which should be good fun, i will now have to find time to get that ready for...

A quiet 'Clean' garage from Dorset in the UK

Made a start on the loft hatch. Tried to keep it as light as possible using scrap ply and some planed baton. I used a couple of small hinges one end and some magnets to keep it up. I also used a hook for pulling the door down. Cheap and cheerful but will do the job  Once...

I do get damp on one side but my neighbors garden is built up against the wall so it holds moisture. For a garage i think it is fine unless you are working in it everyday in the winter.

Keep the updates coming on the track 106, that will be great fun. I love light little cars. I was lucky enough to pick up my first track car a couple of weeks ago. Only a Clio 197 but you have to start somewhere.

They are yes. I did consider insulation and dry wall but a lot quicker and cheaper to paint (plus i preferred the look). I did intend to get a gas heater but so far have not spent enough time in there in the winter to need it.

It took a while but i managed to squeeze it all in. I am still using my old HDD which is sat on the desk behind and i also had to get an odd size fan (matching white of course!) to fit inside which still needs to be fitted. All in quite happy with it. Next in the garage i need to make and...

With the rad at the bottom i didn't quite have enough room for the PSU (even a small form factor model). So i had to offset the PSU slightly out the back of the case. This worked quite well as it would not be seen and also allowed more room for warm air to exit from the rad. I first mocked up a...

Next i had to remove the drive bays to make room for the reservoir and pump. So i completely removed the internals from the case shroud. I drilled out the rivets and managed to cut the rest of the bay out with a small hand saw and filed it smooth. I left a ridge which i planned to mount the...
