thoughts on this HF cabinet combo 56" plus 2 18"

Its tough to tell from my phone, but when i bought my last few tool boxes i almost went with HF because from what i remember they offered a ton of drawers compared to others. But... All of the drawers were small.... Like... They wouldn't fit any tool that was bigger than an inch tall. If you...

What is everyone using for exterior security system cameras & DVR?

I use these along with a Dahua NVR https://ipcamtalk.com/threads/dahua-starlight-varifocal-turret-ipc-hdw5231r-z.14683/

Security camera install. Looking for a do it myself

Oh actually i got the non poe version of that nvr... 1) it was cheaper than the poe version (although not when you take into account i have 3 poe switches) , 2) i have 3 areas i wanted cameras all 150-250ft away from each other and instead of running cat5e back to the nvr for each camera i put...

Security camera install. Looking for a do it myself

This is the NVR i got. I put in a 4tb western digital purple hard drive (has room for a second one as well) and I've got $394 into it total ($260 for nvr and $134 for drive) https://ipcamtalk.com/threads/dahua-nvr-5216-16p-4ks2.17194/ A lot of other folks use blue iris but that was more...

My Dahua cams have IVS events, which is my first experience with notifications and i don't know how common it is but I'll explain anyway.... but basically you can draw lines and boxes on the screen and it'll notify you based on if something crosses a line. You can also specify minimum sizes so...

Local is usually a good choice. I'd be really curious to get some opinions on this camera at the $170 price point (note this includes 3 day fed ex shipping with tracking) from some of your technical contacts with Axis... More opinions is always a good thing...

Who are you planning on buying your Axis cameras from and why?

Test cameras, yes. When they come out with a new one, most people, myself included, have no clue if it's worth the money. Even reviewing the technical data sheets on Dahua website most people with no background in camera optics have any idea what makes one camera better than another. By...

A very active and helpful vendor on https://ipcamtalk.com his handle is empiretecandy He moves a lot of products on the forum and there are many, many happy customers. Even though they test the cameras they sell in house before the ship them, occasionally there will be an issue and he is quick...

These are in Dahuas pro line. I have two of their cheaper cameras on my chicken coop and the quality differences are huge. The cheaper ones are all plastic with plastic clips for example, and the better one is all metal with metal clips and an actual set screw to hold everything in place.

Dahua and Hick are both good yes, but this particular camera is in a series of Dahua cams that use the 1/2.8” 2MP progressive scan Sony Starvis Exmor-R (IMX291) CMOS that has vastly superior low light capabilities. At $170 for the varifocal or $120 for the fixed lens (which includes 3 day...

Security camera install. Looking for a do it myself

Check out the videos and pictures of this camera on the first page of this thread. Going with pro cameras is definitely worth it. There is a fixed lens version of this that's $50 cheaper, but I'd suggest getting one of these varifocals first...

NewShockerGuy if the house is already built (like mine was, in 1893) you will have to drill some holes and cut some drywall/plaster. No getting around it but get some fiberglass rods...

What do you mean? Are you talking about the apps that come with box systems that allow you to view from your phone?

OK, How about Night Owl Security cameras ??

I run a VPN server on my network (a lot easier than it sounds) and use tinycam on my Android to view them, but with the VPN you can use any app you want to use. Check out this forum.... Lots of really good information. https://ipcamtalk.com/threads/vpn-primer-for-noobs.14601/

Also, for anyone who has or is planning on installing cameras, give this thread a read to secure your system. Setting up a VPN will allow you to easily and securely view your cameras while away from your home/business and a lot of other cool things...

Security camera install. Looking for a do it myself

First ask yourself WHY do you want cameras? Do you want to be able to check in on things while you're away? Or for security as in identifying the person that broke into your garage and stole your stuff. If you want security, skip the box store kits. They generally offer wide angle lenses that...

    Water Softener and Filter Advice

I second the thought of getting your water tested to know exactly what you are dealing with. I have a well and the previous owners had a water softener system for many years but took it out for some reason. We have really high iron and that is the only "issue" with our water. When we had a...

    Re lube garage door tracks?

Buy a can of Fluid Film and spray every wheel with it. Hit the tracks if you want too. And the springs. Fluid Film is great stuff and Home Depot sells it for the cheapest I've seen it. Don't bother getting a special specific garage door lubricant that you will use every couple years...

Nitrile Gloves - $4.88/box (this weekend only)

True, with the 25% coupon... But then you can't use the coupon for anything else usually... So your making a special trip to candy land just to buy gloves. Also, to clarify, these gloves are much stronger than the HF gloves. And they have the tiny dots on the finger tips.
