My home's central A/C system is driving me nuts

If you haven't had it serviced recently, might be a good idea to have a tech out. 13 SEER is really inefficient, but unless something is wrong it should satisfy the thermostat at those temperature settings.

Question about Converting R22 to R32

I just had my upstairs unit replaced not long ago and I had them run a new line set. The extra cost was marginable and it made me feel better about it. My house is about the same size as yours and I have 2 units, 1 for upstairs and another for downstairs. The upstairs runs more in the summer...

    DIY Economizer for Garage?

I'd bite the bullet and go ahead and install a mini split. The amount of electricity it uses should be negligible due to cutting down on the run time for your upstairs unit and not adding the fans.

Question about pressure testing Mini Split

Before you pressure test anything, redo all of the flares. I'm sure one of them is likely your leak, but there's no way I'd waste time and money otherwise. I just installed mine a few months ago and I put new flares on 3 of the 4 connections because I thought the other one looked ok. I...

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

I replaced the esim Module in my little commuter because my CEL came on and that is the notorious problem. It is a simple swap once you get the wheel off and fender liner out. I still have the CEL after trying to clear it. I didn't see a new seal buried in the bottom of the box until I put it...

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

It started to wobble about 35mph and I let off the throttle. After adding it, it even feels more stabile in turns at lower speeds. I really didn't expect much out of it, but it was a worthwhile upgrade.

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

This one is pretty quick and it just feels more stabile when turning. I adjusted the damper enough to where I feel it, but it doesn't work against me.

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

Kept it light this evening because I had work to do outside too. I installed a steering stabilizer on the E-Scooter.

Mini Split Install - Tools & equipment needed - First Install

Thank you!! I stalked Marketplace pretty hard. The CPS Pump is a $400 pump, I bought it new in box from a guy for $80. The Yellow Jacket Core removal tool came new in package from Marketplace also for $25. I could have got away with not having a 1/4" Valve Core removal tool, but I wanted...

Mini Split Install - Tools & equipment needed - First Install

Thanks, I should have taken your advice on the flares. Luckily it only cost be about 5 extra minutes and a little bit of nitrogen. I would have cheaped out if I only planned on installing 1, but I know that I will be installing at least 4, or more. All of the tooling & supplies I used for...

Mini Split Install - Tools & equipment needed - First Install

Mini splits only have 1 service port. I drew vacuum down and put the micron gauge on the 2nd valve core tool so I could valve it off before I released the refrigerant.

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

It was yesterday, but I finished up my first mini split install. It gave me a chance to buy a lot of new tools and I learned a lot.

Mini Split Install - Tools & equipment needed - First Install

I pulled it down under 100 micron and then let the decay test go for 15 minutes even though the directions said I only needed to wait 10. After the 15 minutes, I was right on 500 microns and I called it good. After I verified no leaks, it was time to tape everything up. I buttoned...

Mini Split Install - Tools & equipment needed - First Install

I had a couple of hours today to finish it up. The first thing I did was mount the condenser on the wall mount using some heavier rubber isolating feet that I purchased and made sure everything was level. Next, I straightened out the line set and figured out my best path. I knew I was going...

Mini Split Install - Tools & equipment needed - First Install

It rained all day here, so I didn't get as much done as I wanted. I was able to punch the hole through the wall, runs the lines outside, mount the air handler, installed the bigger rubber isolators on the bracket that I bought and hung the bracket for the condenser. I finished up in the dark...

Mini Split Install - Tools & equipment needed - First Install

I'll start updating this thread as I go now. Yesterday, even thought it was raining, I ran 220v from my breaker box to an outdoor disconnect and I also ran 110v and installed a GFCI under the disconnect. I taped up my template on the wall, drilled a pilot hole at a downward angle so I know...

    Daikin PCB repair or replace

The eBay link I put in my response is the board for $260. Here it is again: https://www.ebay.com/itm/116039318808

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

Half in the garage, half outside of the garage. I figured out where I'm going to mount my mini split. I put the template on the wall, made sure it was going to hit multiple studs and then drilled the pilot hole outside at a slight angle. Then I set up my EZ UP outside because it was starting...

    Daikin PCB repair or replace

https://www.ebay.com/itm/116039318808 I'd replace the board at $260. Do you have the unit on a surge protector? Not sure you should have went through 2 boards that quickly. If everything else checks, out, I'd spend $260 on the board and $50 on a surge protector for it if you don't have one...

Mini split Line set flare sealing Rectorseal flaretite

Bumping an old thread on purpose. Any issues with the seals after 3 years of use? I bought some, but opinions on them are pretty much split, 50% love them, 50% hate them.
