    Early Wilton C1 symbol?

Why not call Wilton and see if they know.

    Bench grinder collection bags?

For normal (quick) grinding tasks I don't really worry about the particles but for sustained grinding tasks I do hook up my shop vac to the Grinders rear vent. I also do this when truing up or cleaning the wheels with a diamond tool.

About to buy grizzly G7943 drill press. Thoughts?

I've owned both Bench model and Floor model Drill Presses and would never again buy a bench type. The reason I say this is because is because the bench style are less versatile, have some work size restrictions and take up valuable Bench space. The Floor Drill presses also tend to be more...

Best right angle drill? What do you like?

I've got an older model Milwaukee Electric (made in USA) that I purchased a few years back. It was NOS and brand new. I did not get any great deal (because it was USA made) but did not want the new Chinese version. I have been using it quite a bit lately and have been really pleased with its...

Snap On 1971 KR 531 redo

Great restoration job! I did one about 5 years ago after inheriting a Snap-on box from my Dad. This one was not rusted, but the paint was in rough shape so I had it Powder Coated by a pro. He was pretty talented and he matched the original Snap-on colors exactly. In fact, the draw dividers...

Drilling flat bottom holes with a flat end mill

I was thinking mostly about Steel and Aluminum but there are times I would use them on Hard wood too.

Drilling flat bottom holes with a flat end mill

Thanks for all the responses. So I played around with a double flute center cut end mill today and like most said, it tends to walk a bit unless everything is clamped very tightly. I do agree that the best way is to drill an undersized hole and then finish with the end mill. I inherited a bunch...

Drilling flat bottom holes with a flat end mill

I have a descent floor model Drill Press but unfortunately I do not own a Milling Machine. I do however have a bunch of brand new (very old stock) double end Flat End Mills that I can't see why they could not be used in a Drill Press to drill flat bottomed holes. Is there anything I do not get...

33 year old Air Compressor - keep or toss???

BTW after looking two times I could not find any ASME tag on the tank. Maybe this tank was manufactured before they were required to do so.

33 year old Air Compressor - keep or toss???

I suppose that if I do spend money on a Compressor I SHOULD get more CFM's so i might just wait until I get a great deal on a larger one or figure out how to make room for a 60 gallon model. Well thanks guys for all the advise and suggestions......... I appreciate it!

33 year old Air Compressor - keep or toss???

What I MIGHT wind up doing is Zoro Tool usually has a 30% off & no shipping sale once a year. There exact match tank by Speedaire / Dayton costs about $368 and at 30% off would run me $257 delivered. Since the Compressor is A-OK in all other respects I could go ahead and buy some insurance for...

33 year old Air Compressor - keep or toss???

A agree that my 33 year old USA made is far superior in quality to the new "assembled in USA made of Chinese parts" stuff is. The only thing that made me a bit anxious is the fact that its 33 years old and even if I am fastidious from now on about draining the tank, I would bet there is plenty...

33 year old Air Compressor - keep or toss???

My old Speedaire has a Dayton motor (2HP) and I will have to look for manufacturer marks on the pump as I do not know off-hand who made it. I do know that it was all made 100% in the USA and is all cast iron. I do like the fact that the motor is 1750 rpm and the compressor is pretty darn quiet...

33 year old Air Compressor - keep or toss???

The Speedaire tank replacements (as sold by Zoro and McMaster-Carr) will run me over $425 delivered and so I was thinking of just ordering a new Campbell Hausfeld 3.2 HP 26 gallon compressor which delivered would run me about $630.For the extra $200 bucks I will get 6 gallons more capacity and...

33 year old Air Compressor - keep or toss???

From what I have seen so far on line it does not pay to replace just the tank. It's just slightly less than buying a brand new compressor. Unless of course if someone here can let me know where to buy descent quality tanks at a reasonable price.

33 year old Air Compressor - keep or toss???

I have a Speedaire 20 gallon 2HP air compressor that is 33 years old and I am the original owner. It does not leak, it runs perfectly and always has at least a few pints of water in it when I remember to drain it every few months or so - yes I do know I should do it on a more frequent basis but...

Lets talk DIRTY.... and how to get clean!

20 Mule Team Boraxo powdered hand soap works incredibly well for me. I buy it on line in the 5 pound bulk boxes and use a sugar dispenser (like in a restaurant) to pour it. Get those at the Dollar Store for a Buck. I have not found anything better, safer or faster in removing dirt, grime and...

    Penetrating Lubricant's Comparison

Kroil is the best IMHO but if possible I'll take the work piece to be treated with Kroil outside to avoid a stinky shop all day. If that's impossible I just spray away and open a window - BUT the stuff works!

    RIP Enco

MCS prices are more than anyones (cost prohibitive)! Enco's website is the absolute WORST - can never find squat!!! I just sent them a letter about this and they said they would contact me the next day - one week later I've heard NOTHING! McMaster-Carr is about the best I am aware of for general...

    Recommend me a Jigsaw

I upgraded my Jig Saw last year from an old 1970's Craftsman to a new Orbital Milwaukee model and have been quite happy so far. No issues at all and it has plenty of power. I went with a CORDED model as I am DONE with batteries! Slightly more time to run an extension cord (if outside) but I...
