It is well ventilated attic area. I put rafter vents w/ baffles in each rafter. Roof ridge also has ridge vent. I think i definetly will call a bunch of insulation contractors to see what they say. Thanks

Thanks for the information. I was always told cellulose would settle and it was better to go with fiberglass. Now I must go and price cellulose and take another look at it. I am definitely going to be living here awhile, so i want the best choice. Damn and I just saw blow-in fiberglass is on...

I am trying to decide between R values for my 1440sqft outbuilding ceiling. I have chosen blow-in fiberglass insulation. Johns Manville @ Menards R-38 Est $830 R-44 +$140 R-50 +$270 Is R-44/R-50 worth the extra dollars? Oh and I live near Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Any thoughts?

Thanks for all of your replys! I went with a friends advice and went horizontal. Half way through one wall I realized I'm going to have a lot of scrap. When I get to the bottom row, I will need a piece around 28". here is my progress on the wall:

I was thinking about doing the vertically. The studs in the workshop are not 16" on center, so putting up the wall is going to be fun. I think the builder was drunk when he put the walls up.. :beer: Definitely going to have to trim some of the boards to put them on center.

Does it matter which way you put OSB on the wall. I was thinking of putting them vertically in my 48' x 30' workshop. also does it matter which side you put facing out into the shop?

I have a 30x48 pole barn that I am thinking of sectioning off and having that part heated during the winter. I will insulate the whole pole barn with R-15 since it is the highest I can go with 2x4 construction. Ceiling will also be insulated. For a heat source I have so far a 40,000 BTU...
